Yippee!! I called this morning to move my resort from OKW for the night before the cruise, and got a studio at Bay Lake Tower! So I thought, let me check out the airfares, and lo and behold, they dropped!! Scored a round trip LGA-MCO for $177 on Delta, and used miles to knock that down to $77!!

I just have to wait until next week to see if I can switch my resort for the 12th-14th to Boardwalk or Beach Club...but I'm officially official now!!!!! Nice 50th birthday present to myself! Woot!!

(I don't usually use this many exclamation points, but I'm really excited about this)

I'll be arriving at 4pm on the 7th, so if anyone wants to get together for dinner...I've got DVC discounts at resort restaurants! :D

CAN'T WAIT to meet everyone!!!!!

Yup! I think there's a fare war heating up--I saw that American had knocked down its fare (could have gone JFK-MCO on AA for $158), so I decided to check Delta, which is where I have all my miles.

Everyone who needs to fly should probably keep an eye out this week, I'll bet we'll start to see them all come down.

Has anyone ever flown with Spirit Airlines??? I did a quicky air search on Expedia out of curiousity and they looked really low. Went to their website and the airfare was even lower. Southwest and United both have hubs here in Houston and both are over $400 round trip. Spirit is like $210. Little bit of a price difference there. o_O I figure there has to be some catch here. We've been digging around and it seems they charge extra for everything. Still, if I have to pay $30 each for 2 checked bags I've managed to save over $100. We also looked at other routes for other dates we are looking to travel this year and the prices are sometimes just crazy low. Tracey and I are both suspicious because if something seems too good to be true it often is. LOL!

I believe the passengers have to help supply power to the plane by pedaling.

Yeah, Yelp is like a full-on Spirit-bashing party! LOL! But, golly, round trip flights for all 4 of us to LAX in September for under $800??? Tracey joked we would need to load the boys down with laxatives 2 days before the flight so we wouldn't have to pay for them to use the bathroom. I added that we could bring empty water bottles just in case. LOL!

Wait, LAX? Does that mean you are going to Disneyland?

Really dumb question number 1 ladies.... for the cruise, is there an itinerary of sorts for the 4 days? (For instance dinner suggestions, excursions etc)? Also, for dinner, are shift dresses (both long and hankerchief kinda bottoms) acceptable?? Thank you so much in advance!!

There's no set itinerary for now. We'll start firming up things we want to do as a group as we get closer to sailing. Dinners! There's 3 main dining rooms so there will be at least 1 opportunity to eat at each for dinner. Whether or not and when ladies want to book Palo or Remy, the upcharge restaurants, will get firmed up closer to sailing as well. Dresses! What you described sounds fine! You'll find all sorts of dress for dinners even with the suggestion by Disney Cruise Line of "cruise casual" for dinners. "Cruise casual" means anything nicer than jeans or shorts. For me, I'm all about the cute sundresses, shift dresses, jersey maxi dresses, etc. A cute skirt with a boat-neck tee would be fine. A pair of capris with a cute top and sandals would be just ducky. I think of it like when we used to go to the beach when I was much younger and we'd have a night that we'd go to a nicer sit-down dinner. I always wore something cute that wasn't shorts or jeans. It's casual but a little nicer than your everyday type stuff. On the 4-night cruises there's 3 nights of cruise casual + 1 night called "dress up". "Dress up" to me is one step dressier than cruise casual. So instead of a cute cotton sundress I might wear a more structured, dressier one with heels. Some people go a bit further into the cocktail dress type thing. That's totally up to you. Again, even though Disney will have the recommended dress for the night you will still see all sorts of people in the dining rooms and about wearing jeans or even shorts with a nice shirt. Heck, our recent cruise there was a family near us at another table every night that I promise you the husband and boys never wore anything but sagging oversized shorts with wife-beater tanks. Even on formal night. Of course we also admired the detail in his jailhouse tats but, hey, to each their own, right? Glad you got to enjoy the Disney cruise with his family, too. ;) Oh! And also one of the cruise casual nights will also be pirate night. Pirate night you are invited to show your pirate side! As you've seen in my TRs, we interpret that our way by wearing pirate-ish tees (Goonies!) with jeans or shorts and some pirate accessories. Some people will wear elaborate pirate costumes. Some wear their regular cruise casual stuff. I find the overall vibe on pirate night to be more laid-back than the others so we dress that way. The only time there is a full-on dress requirement, like you ain't gettin' in if you don't meet the minimum level of dress, is for Palo & Remy. Ladies should wear a nice dress or pants or something. I did see a gal in a really dressy silk shorts set with a sparkly top and heels in Remy but it was a very dressy look. Gotta dress up. If you show up in capris and a casual-ish shirt for dinner you might not get let in. Think elegant for the elegant (upcharge!) settings. Overall, though, don't sweat the dress clothes! It's easy-peasy and Disney isn't hard to please for the most part. Dress for your comfort. Most eveyrone does!
