Wages haven’t kept up with mass inflation. That is one big issue with people vacating to Disney right nowSeeing as the economy has never been better by all metrics, I agree.

I just think there is a major shift in entertainment going on culturally even before COVID. Millennials are growing older, now we're in our 40s. You are starting to see a majority of the money spending demographics are those who grew up with or had their formative years being on the internet.
COVID hyper accelerated it.
People don't want to spend money the same way they did 10-20 years ago. People are self curating even more now. That will effect everything from vacations, to restaurants to movie theatres.
Just like arcades used to be popular 40 years ago, they no longer exist the same way. Same thing is happening to other things.
Strictly demographically speaking, Gen X has the most buying/spending power right now...but per usual, they are ignored in favor of Millennials.I just think there is a major shift in entertainment going on culturally even before COVID. That, and a record number of DVC contract resales since Covid
Yes! I mean, I’m glad that other people enjoy it, but I found it really disappointing. For me, it really just felt like “this is it?” I think it needs some kind of minor show-type experience (a curtain revealing a cantina AA band or some simple cast actor things happening every idk 20 min behind the bar) or much cooler decoration/theming, where you spend your time really drinking it in and finding it a cool environment. It’s pre-fab cocktails you stand for and it’s not like in, idk when I was in my 20s and going out in a city and just psyched to stand there and talk to everyone! But sincerely not wanting to offend anyone who really enjoys it!Oga’s really blows…
…sorry…I know that’s not helpful…but it has to be said
It needs a show…a menu…more space….a character or two people have heard of/give a crap about…Yes! I mean, I’m glad that other people enjoy it, but I found it really disappointing. Companies are reporting higher earnings due to the devaluation of the Dollar manifestin in the loss of purchasing power. Companies are getting more $ for the same quantity (inflation), same $ for less (shrinkflation), or more $ for less ( igerflation.Dow and Nasdaq forecasted with a higher opening today along with record levels both currently have. My portfolio holdings ( Disney is not one of them ) and 401K are very happy campers along with my real estate holdings that are at record high values. Can one imagine if the economy was doing better?
There’s actually a name for that third one: Skimpflation I believeCompanies are reporting higher earnings due to the devaluation of the Dollar manifestin in the loss of purchasing power. I call it “the floodgate effect”There’s actually a name for that third one: Skimpflation I believe
Companies dealing with rising costs pass onto consumers with rising prices. Disney isn't the only player in this game. There’s actually a name for that third one: Skimpflation I believe
You will be impressed with the cleanliness , guest service of the Tokyo parks. To compare to WDW, there is no comparison in a number of categories such as these.I have an AP and go to Orlando about once a month but I’ve cut back the number of times I visit the parks. The wait times are long and instead of adding capacity, Disney likes to redo what’s already there and that’s disappointing. I’m going to Tokyo Disney in the fall to see all the new stuff they added there. I also bought an AP for the first time for Universal and I’m excited for Epic. I don’t anticipate doing much WDW in the near future unless they focus on making the parks more enjoyable with improved wait times and add capacity. Money is not the problem. If they give a quality experience then I’m happy to open my wallet and spend$$$$ and I know I’m not the only one who feels this way.
Gatlinburg was wall to wall at 10 am today in rainy conditions....
And those numbers are juiced
Sir, we can agree to disagree but I think this is terribly unfair to R-3X, who has found work as a DJ after Iger eliminated his job.It needs a show…a menu…more space….a character or two people have heard of/give a crap about…
The little stuff
Last summer they were trying to get people in the parks to go into Ogas. The CMs let me hang out in there with my then 2 year old while waiting for RS at Millenium Falcon. We didn’t buy anything but there was no one in there so they let us escape the heat.Currently listening to the Disney Dish podcast - my normal Monday morning walk routine - and @lentesta just mentioned that there is widespread reservation availability at every restaurant at the park. Even Oga’s and
Man now I'm really interested to go again (if it's walkups). I enjoyed it a lot, but, I stood by myself (it was so dead I didn't have anyone directly to either side of me), and while premade drinks aren't my favorite by any stretch, they were still decent, and the storm troopers wandering through were fun. Also, the bartenders spent a good deal of time talking in character with me (for the 10th time, it was this dead), and it really made the experience fun. I could completely see how if it was super busy that could make it not too great as pretty much everything I listed here is dependent on it not being busy, but if you are ever there during a holiday when it's dead (still weird to say those words), it's worth a visit to me.Yes!
