EPCOT Inside Out to Replace Journey into Imagination with Figment?

I ride it at least every other trip, it’s not terrible. It feels more Disney quality then the mermaid ride to me.

I know it’s not the original but compared to other Disney dark ride attractions it’s still fun.

I went on this for the first time this year. It’s was a ride my kids really enjoyed. I was pleasantly surprised.

I still understand it sorely needs an update or 6.

So...did Pete Docter get overridden (spelling?) by Bobby? Or is the article nothing? I understand this is a ways off, just curious. @marni1971?

The solution is so freakin obvious. Disney needs to grow a pair and greenlight an Imagination! movie and later base whatever attraction they conceive off of the success of that movie. They have a crap ton of venues to put Figment and Dreamfinder in the mainstream. Would it not be in Disney's best interest to see how well these characters are received? There's plenty of places an Inside Out attraction can be added. I for one would rather it in MK.

Just a few days ago, Micechat put out a “rumor” that Disneyland’s small world might be on the move to Tokyo, so I’m taking whatever they say with a large grain of salt.

Tony Baxter has stated in podcast if you Google the word figment that purple dragon is always the first thing to pop up.

They're crazy not to do at least a Disney+ series. He can teach Peter Pan how to read again!

Figment gives them so many opportunities. Why are they not capitalizing on him? My guess ... they want guests to forget about him. I bet they were disappointed in the positive survey results he got (not to mention the comic sold surprisingly well ... yet they never capitalized on that???)

Inner. WDI. Office. Politics. That is all. Couple that with risk averse CEOs and execs, and this is the mess that’s unleashed.

If you want to piece together what’s *really* stopping Figment from returning properly and how this is all happened. I’d recommend reading these. What truly started this was Horizons’ lack of guest ridership/popularity and loss of sponsorship:

From Cheshire Figment (aka: Mike Tuchman) (R.I.P.) who was one of the key people involved with the “Friends of Figment” group who helped “bring Figment back” into the attraction thanks to attending shareholders meetings, etc. mentions this on the DIS forums for further context on how the attraction was able to be changed the way it was. :

Tony himself has also mentioned previously that “there were some politics involved” regarding the decisions for the ride’s changes in this interview conducted with him. But he doesn’t elaborate any further than that. Try and guess why:

The very same year that Horizons closed due to the reasons mentioned in Sotto’s post. Interestingly enough , “Honey, I Shrunk the Audience” had opened shortly after. (This, I believe, was the start of the ‘film IP’ takeover at Epcot). With that also came a change to the line queue, entrance, & signage for the Magic Eye Theater. The monorail spiel’s wording was also changed around this time. Notice the lack of mentioning of ImageWorks & the attraction itself being mentioned (3:43):

This official t-shirt was released around this same time aswell:

This article from the Orlando Sentinel’s got some pretty fascinating info in here also. Pay close attention to the names and examples mentioned: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.or...s/os-xpm-2002-05-28-0205280197-story,amp.html
And something to go along with this article. You guys notice these signs and the eerily similar plot/tone these two attractions have? I don’t think that’s a coincidence folks.:

Odd, right?
Almost like Tiki Room: Under New Management just *might’ve* been poking fun at management at the time, and the Journey Into Imagination With Figment ride was poking fun at the whole “Your Imagination/Friends of Figment/Bring Figment Back” controversy. Eh? 😉😉 (I’ll get more in depth on that in a minute)

Before I go further on my more in depth analysis of the show scenes & plot of Journey Into Your Imagination and the With Figment versions. I also want to point this out.... notice the striking resemblance?? Hmm.. And btw, what’s the current load area built on top of? 👀
