Because Figment was a character exclusive to Walt Disney World created for the original attraction along with Dreamfinder. He even served as the mascot for Epcot Center during the 80s and 90s.

I'm always amazed when I see how bad the CG is on 3d animated Figment. He's by far the most dated thing in the whole park. It's surprising and kind of neat that they keep it the way it is. He looks like Veggie Tales

Disney probably won't retheme the 3d show to "Shrunk". Most Live Action movies are a dime a dozen and irrelevant after 10+ years. Nowadays they mostly stick to "Big Franchises" and "Animation".

The original pavilion was *not* based on that movie. It was it’s own original creation. The Honey, I Shrunk the Audience 3D movie was based off the franchise though. And eventually, that 3D show was what influenced the ride’s overhaul (which was the biggest mistake they ever made)
