Rumor Inside Out to Replace Journey into Imagination with Figment?

The pitch that my podcast cohost had would by inspired by Inside Out. The ride would put us inside Figment's brain. We would see the 5 emotions of Figment and they would have some interaction with the 5 emotions of Riley and potentially others.

But why have Figment if they have Bing Bong? There would be a lot of crossover confusion and will make most unassuming people wonder if Figment is just a character created for Inside Out.

Heard another bit from a source that I really wouldn’t call credible saying there’s a plan with Dreamfinder. Might as well basically say I heard from the bus driver but I still think it’s probable.
Well, we know from insiders here that there IS a plan to use Figment. There's also other plans. It all depends on what plan they actually end up going with

I heard a rumor from another less than credible source that Buzzy will be used as Dreamfinder when he was a child.
Nah, he’ll become a last minute young Peter Quill AA to explain to guests in the Coaster queue what the hell any of these niche references mean and how they relate to Guardians of the Galaxy whatsoever

Sidenote; Wasn’t this an actual absurd/groundless rumor that circulated many years ago by fan speculation, or am I just imagining things?

Apparently Figment from Journey Into Imagination will have a cameo in this film. According to an Drew Taylor's interview with the director Josh Cooley from the Fine Tooning Podcast.

Considering the overall direction the upcoming Play Pavilion is going to assume, Inside Out replacing Imagination is now beginning to seem more likely (unfortunately enough for Dreamfinder/Figment fans).

So you're saying that because they are putting Inside Out IP over there, that means they will also put it in the Imagination Pavilion? I'm not sure I'm following the bouncing Figment here

What I'm trying to say here is that since the Play Pavilion seems to consist entirely of interchangeable hands-on exhibits and no rides, a full-blown Inside Out ride (as opposed to a simple M&G or hands-on exhibit) is now looking a lot more likely for the Imagination Pavilion than for the building that was once Wonders of Life.

Nothing is certain for the Imagination building.

Including it staying.

I wouldn't necessarily think that just yet. If anything, the Play Pavilion is the most likely destination for the Inside Out characters. Conversely, I looked at the announcement of the pavilion as something of a saving grace for Imagination. Also, it seems there has been some push back from creatives like Peter Doctor regarding removing Figment.

If they could essentially make the Play Pavilion the new equivalent of the Image Works, then they have all that space on the main floor to work with again.

Hey, what if Figment was your host for the black box IP-of-the-month experience? o_O

:-( I want so badly for them to just modernize the original concept, but it seems like that would have been easy enough to do by now if they were going to. Walking up the staircase to the DVC lounge is both exciting and depressing.

Are there any aspects of the Figment proposal you can divulge? Even whether it's intended to be a ride, simulator, or show/movie?

Exactly. To me, shoving a bunch of IP (that they could do much better with, mind you) including Inside Out into the Play Pavilion to me makes it less likely they replace Figment with Inside Out. JMO. They know Figment sells merchandise and they know he's popular. If they choose to not use him and Dreamfinder they're pretty dumb. I think it's a good thing, personally, that they keep putting off touching Imagination. Who knows what could have happened?

The fact remains, Inside Out *wasnt* about imagination. It was about EMOTIONS. It would be a poor fit, but I understand they don't care about that ... I mean, they have two showbuildings attached to the Play Pavilion that they aren't/can't use at the moment. If anything that opens it up to them adding something slightly more substantial there. Is there room to expand them a bit if necessary? I mean ... hello, Cranium Command ... Pete Docter ... I never understood why folks clung to the idea it should replace Imagination. None of it is about imagination (to the degree I'm thinking about it all). Joy and Sadness aren't Riley's imaginary friends ... Very disappointing they aren't fully utilizing all of the Life pavilion. They couldn't revamp Cranium Command into Inside Out? COME ON. Even casuals think that should happen! (I mean ... it's like they deliberately avoid things that you know, make sense ...). But hey, there's going to be an interactive game with Nick and Judy! I mean ... zzzzz

But I still won't sit easy until something's confirmed and we're probably not even close to anything being greenlit at the moment. They'd be silly to give up Figment. It's pretty much a fact that he sells merchandise. If anything is 'fan service' Figment should be it.

Based on some of Marni’s comments and past history, I’d say all of the original FW pavilions are gone the way of the dodo at some point. WOM, Horizons, Energy are gone. Imagination will languish to the point they raze it and start over. WOL isn’t coming back in old form, either. I fear The Land and The (former) Living Seas will follow suit with maybe SSE being the lone holdout simply because it’s the park icon, although GMR would beg to differ. FW is gone and it’s not coming back. Makes me sad, but life goes on.
