Indy is tanking at box office. I think Lucasfilm made a big mistake not targeting a younger audience.
Should have had Chris Pratt do the opening WW2 adventure.
Introduce him as the new Indy. Pratt has 10 years to do Indy. He’s 43.

phoebe waller bridge, who Lucasfilm wants as new Indy, doesn’t bring in an audience. No one young went to see her. Women didn’t go to see her. She was good in the film… but she isn’t an audience draw.
Kathleen Kennedy needs to be let go, a CEO needs to understand the target audience and she doesn’t. To her it’s all about replacing the male lead with females.
No one wanted phoebe waller bridge as new Indy, everyone wanted Chris Pratt.
Nobody wants more Chris Pratt either.

Harrison Ford is not someone you can recast IMO. There's a reason he's one the most successful movie stars of all time.

Solo suffered from this to a degree.

Christ Pratt would be fine as Indy or an Indy-esque hero, but it's kind of obvious? I like Pratt in most things but it would still feel a bit too much like discount Indy.

These movies are all about pairings, so I'd be okay with Phoebe doing one and it would come down her partner in the film.

although i don’t like the idea of recasting ford, if they actually did this, i can possibly see it working if they wanted to make more indy films in the future. but overall, i would let it be. there’s only 1 indy.

This is pretty much what they tried with Shea Labouf from the last movie, he just ended up going a little crazy at the same time and lost his box office draw.

I’m not sure Indy can be recast, he’s too iconic, it would have been better to let the series die a graceful death and focus on a new explorer movie.

National Treasure pulled in a fortune, it shows you can use the same treasure hunter concept with a new cast and people will pay to see it. I think people are tired of studios doing the lazy character swap and expecting us to show up, we want unique, not a remake with a lessor cast.

Since this is a fictional adventure series could the writers conjure up a distant (young) relative also named "Jones" that is also an adventurous archeologist who comes across Indiana's crated up things and decides to take up the mantle? Ahhhh but that would mean creative writing and story telling.

Chris Pratt isn’t Shea, not even close.
Lucasfilm needs to continue a franchise and Pratt puts butts in the seats and brings in a younger crowd.
Kingdom was successful financially, younger audience came out.
phoebe waller bridge can’t carry this franchise, no one came out to see her. She didn’t fill the seats.
Older men went to this show.

what would’ve made this movie funny is if they squeezed in a tom selleck cameo since he nearly had the role. would’ve been hysterical & ironic if again, he couldn’t do it due to contract obligations with his blue bloods show

I saw the film yesterday, and really enjoyed it.
I think Indy fans need to go and see this movie for themselves and make up their own minds.

It was honestly better then i was expecting after all the bad press and lukewarm reviews.
Great start, atmospheric shots, exotic locations, plenty of action, a story to keep you interested...twists i was not expecting...and of course more glorious John Williams music.

I will gladly go and see this again in a theater soon.

Pratt is massively overexposed right now. That said, I still enjoy him… in the right projects, which he increasingly doesn’t pick. Pratt is a comedian - he excels as a well-meaning buffoon. That’s why he works in The LEGO Movie, Guardians, and above all Parks & Rec. When he takes straight action roles, he abandons the thing that makes him a likable performer. Indy isn’t precisely a straight action role, but Pratt wouldn’t work in it at all.

Ford is Indy. To continue the series, you need a new character and you need to get back to before WWII. The films have already provided the answer… Abner Ravenwood. As to casting, perhaps Oscar Isaac?
