Imagination! Being Replaced w. Dr. Doof?

I never understood the allure of Figment. I guess I didn't grow up with it. I always thought the ride itself was terrible, and usually find myself on it when trying to kill time until my next Soarin' fastpass is available.

nvm. Googled it. How could they be considering removing those pyramids. Ain't nothin' sacred anymore?
That art is pretty old now. Considering the more recent current teases as well as even WDW1974 hinting in another thread that Dreamfinder may be a part of version 4.0 (someone asked him whether the D23 presentation with Dreamfinder involved had any relevance for the future of the attraction and 74 said it could), I don't see much reason to worry too much at this time.

Though to answer your question- of course not. What they did to the original ride and the abomination they replaced it with has long since shown us that nothing is sacred at least in regards to WDW and EPCOT. I'm not going to get too worried about Imagination yet though as we've had far more recent information.

If you're talking about the current version of the Imagination ride, there's basically no allure. This includes the current rendition of Figment who is basically a completely different character personality wise. Most people do indeed seem to detest the ride. It's the original version of the ride that survived up until 1998 and that version of Figment that people are so in love with. If you haven't seen it then you need to go to marni1971's (Martin) blog website and watch his tribute and ridethrough of the original version. That would give you a taste of what people miss so dearly. It is completely different than the current version in every way.

The original Imagination was one of the best and most creative rides ever made. Not to even mention the upstairs Imageworks.

The other thread was closed. What happened he concept art? The image seems to not load over there....

Thank goodness! It was painful to read.

I have ridden both versions of JIYI with Figment and did prefer the older version. But what I really preferred was the whole cohesiveness of the Futureworld portion of Epcot and all of the thought provoking, technological rides and exploration opportunities offered. My kids (then 9&11) could have spent days there. It was there favorite park.

I am hoping for something besides empty buildings that used to be something in that area.

We are making a huge mistake here folks. The social media "experts" at Disney are going to see this thread, see the title and see 34 pages. In their twisted minds it will equate to 34 pages of praise for Disney for having their fingers to the pulse of the "hardcore fans".

Does anyone actually believe that 15 years down the road, we will still care about this TV show? It will be long gone and forgotten. That is why its so important to have the pavilion dedicated to something that was meant for Epcot, and nothing else.

Ask the same question to The Honey I Shrunk The Kids Playset Adventure at DHS..They even promote a tv show that doesn't even exists on tv (Yes it was on the HUB when the channel premiered but, that's beyond the point).

I know this is a bit of a tired argument, but how relevant is Song of the South today? Have anyone's kids seen the movie? Is it even available on DVD? Yet Splash Mountain is one of the most popular rides. If the ride and show building are done well (a big IF) the fact that P&F are characters in it will become secondary. In 15 years if the show isn't on anymore (very likely, but see the Simpsons for evidence that a cartoon can last forever) the ride can still carry itself if its done right.

The characters actually would fit in thematically IMHO. Maybe have something like Dr Doof built an innator that takes people's imagination. P&F attempt to stop him. There's no reason they can't have Figment appear with them. P&F just did a crossover episode with the Marvel Superheroes. Even if the ride doesn't feature the characters they should consider redoing the 3D movie and they could still have a meet and greet.

I would be OK with the movie but the whole pavilion would be awful. And yes the splash mountain idea works in magic kingdom but Epcot is a different animal. It is Disney still but also not supposed to be Disney at the same time.

Phineas and Ferb is going to be like Kim Possible in a few years: Still very popular with fans on the level of the old Disney Afternoon shows, but Disney's not going to give a damn about it as they move onto some other project. Hell, Phineas and Ferb is actually ending sometime next summer and the theatrical movie has been taken off the schedule.

It
is interesting that so many people complained about the original FW saying it was too much for kids to understand. Isner dumbed it down and now everyone wants the original back. They should have left it alone and taken Walt's original adage and just plus'd it. Instead they minus'd it and now it is too expensive to go back to what actually worked.

Yeah that's the difference between only having ever experienced what the ride is today vs. having experienced the original. You'd "get it" if you had. LOL :D

I have to agree with this... in fact overall, the concept of Epcot was that it would be ever changing... that something wouldn't have to be around for 15 years because every few years the park would make changes to keep it current. Now... that's not quite happened obviously but the concept of refurb'ing to a P&F theme (that does fit) isn't necessarily a poor one just because in 15 years the show may no longer be on. The bad decision would come in the form of Disney leaving it there for 10 years after the show had ended. LOL!

As a kid who ADORED Future World, I will never understand that complaint.
Gotta agree... as a kid I wanted to spend all my park time in Future World at Epcot. I loved the "edutainment" concept that each attraction (back in the day) really embodied. I think that's why today's Future World confuses me honestly. Back in the day, everything sort of had a connection to another attraction in some way. Today each pavilion really stands on it's own and alone. Not that that is a bad thing but it's a lot different than the original FW for sure.

I may have already said this, but I would be totally fine with putting Mystic Manor in there (with Figment/Dreamfinder in place of the monkey/magician).
I like the ride vehicle but the story, for me would have to be less supernatural. Having said that, mystic manor in AK... Yes please!

"Mystic Manor"..."monkey magician" - I may be wrong, but I thought that I read somewhere that "Mystic Manor" is an Imagineers "oriental" version of our beloved "Haunted Mansion" since the oriental culture have different ideas about death, ghosts and hauntings than we as westerners. Anybody else ever hear that???

Of course for me, I would LOVE to have a "Mystic Manor". We could use a little more spooky thrill around the ol WDW!! And definitely more rides!! I grew up just 2 hours from Cedar Point and I LOVE rides!!
