I just washed my cell phone...with it on!

Needlessly to say ...it's quite dead now.
Don't feel bad. About a year ago I threw mine away about 10 seconds before I also dumped a nearly full 32 oz drink in the trash can on top of it.:brick:

I have had co-workers do this, they used a hairdryer on it for a couple of hours...let it dry for a day or two..and it "came back to life"...but they had issues with the screen of other minor problems..so, GOOD LUCK!

I went to the beach, was very careful with my phone, kept it away from the water the whole time. Getting ready to leave, I put it in my pocket, walked down to the water to rinse my feet off and got nailed up to my waist by a wave. This of course killed my cell phone.

I Read a Thread about "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" that contained no actual news, just glowing hype

I asked a woman a question in the computer lab at college about printing paper, but when I was done asking she told me she was just a student and had no idea what I was talking about. :brick:

I hate it when there's adult students who look like teachers at community college.

I hate when I'm in a hurry and toss the whole batch of clothes in the wash instead of sorting them and return to find my undergarments are (last time) pink:(

My brother-in-law recently got a brand new iPhone and the next week went on a Caribbean Cruise. One day he decided to go swimming in the ocean with his week old $300 phone in his pocket. My sister was not thrilled.

I once got in my car when it was snowing one night, only to find about 3 inches of snow on my drivers side window. Knowing I had to clean it off to see, I rolled my window down..... A few seconds later, I was cleaning 3 inches of snow out of my lap. :brick:

Hey Doug, would it have made a difference if it was off?

Possibly...as water and electronics are not friends.

Since it was on, the water did immediate damage to the electronics. Had it of been cut off, I could have left it to dry out before powering it back on. There still would be the potential for rust damage (eventually) since it's a closed system, but this was the kiss of death!

Problem solved though...found an abandoned cell phone at work, switched SIM cards...PRESTO... new phone - same number! :D

Actually aside form its corrosive qualities 100% pure water is not conductive and is fairly benign when it comes to electronics. It is the minerals found in nearly every drop of water on the planet that fry electronics.

One of the best cures for pretty much any electronic device that has been submerged in water is to take it apart as much as possible (ie remove battery, sim card, memory card, etc) and cover it in uncooked rice for a day or two. The rice will act like a sponge to the water. Providing nothing shorted out it should work.

I woke up today confronted by a winter storm and thought I might be able to get to work. Oh how wrong I was...we're now in a blizzard warning!

Also my district manager thinks that having us open at noon will help. Think again, boss man!

(I really like this thread idea!)
