Trip Report I ESCAPED!!! (part 1) - The Dream Girls

PART 1 OF 2

Oh come on! Y'all didn't think I'd actually NOT post some sort of telling of the tale, did you?

#seriously?

Wait! I take that back! There was a rule about hashtags! Crap! @Ariel484 , you had the list of rules, right?

No notes to use. Just the pictures and the memories that stand out. For whatever reason there's holes here and there in my pictoral timeline. Oh well. Prob'ly better that way. ;)

Many of the girls said things like, "What happens on the girls' cruise stays on the girls' cruise." Um, yeah. No promises on whether or not what follows is strategically edited. Chances are it is. If you want to know what really happens on the unOfficial WDWMagic Girls Cruise you'll just have to book yourself a stateroom on the next one. Needless to say, 27 ladies + 1 cruise = a hellagood time.

Part 1 of 2. This was a 2-part runaway from home for me. I decided to do these recountings in 2 pieces then link them to each other accordingly. Part 1 contains the girls cruise experience. Part 2 contains the 20th anniversary escape for me & my Sweetness. Definitely 2 vastly different trips connected by time. You can see part 2 HERE.

Also, please forgive whatever crap I post for pictures. I got a new camera a few days before I left home. I played a lot with my shots and have been experimenting heavily with editing. Oftentimes you'll see pictures taken only seconds apart that look very different. That's because in editing I'm still playing with a range of settings to find what my mind's eye enjoys. K?

With that, lets get this thing rolling!

Pictures look great, as do the cabanas!

Friends and booze are always a great cure for the "blues". Cracking me up about the drinking game!

The cabanas are da bomb! When you take your family on a DCL cruise for the first time my ultimate wish is for you to score one. Chances are extremely slim because there's so many people with up to a 45 day booking advantage over first timers. Unless you buck-up for concierge. I have a feeling the cabanas would seal the deal for all future vacations with Val. She would LOVE them.

Yep. Lettin' your hair down, drinkin', and laughin' with friends. Nobody was driving anywhere. Everyone had a fabulous time. I don't think we could've escaped any further from life that day. It was awesome.

Great Castaway review... so glad you stuck around with us that afternoon, Kelly! So glad! And, yes, what happens in the cabana, stays in the cabana! Of course, there's a whole host of pictures on my camera just itching to get posted. ;):D:cool:

While I've definitely thought of those pics since I fully trust that I'll never be blackmailed with them. I would, however, love to see them! And maybe have copies of them. It was such a killer day. I trust your judgement on which to go public. ;)

You need to leave your camera behind more often. No telling what kind of presents you'll find, huh? :hilarious:

The game is still ON! @Ariel484 , you need to save the list of rules. I have a feeling the game shall be continued next time. It'll be our Epic Girls Game that we pick up each trip. Tradition. Whadya think?????
Don't you worry, I still have it! ;) It's in my WDW Girls Cruise notebook!
Drink up, ladies! Where's the cabana boy when we need him???
KOMGRIT!!! He was the best!

Yes, I've been waiting for this day to get posted! BEST DAY EVER! :D I'm so glad you joined us in Cabana #6. That was my favorite day of the trip by far. Except for those red shots...weren't those the ones you described as tasting like "licking an envelope"?? I remember that wasn't originally what I asked for (the original request being something not-so-family friendly :angelic:) and dying of laughter when the German CM was describing it to the bartender over the phone. :D

OMG, PALO...:inlove: Can't wait to go there again.

OMG Kelly I am loving this report and wish I was there! Your pics are amazing!!! You have never done a shot a jager? :D Definitely not my favorite straight, but throw in some redbull and I can tolerate it! LOL! The corona bottles are so cool! I have never seen them before!

Nope. Never done a shot of Jager. I'm 39 years old. I've been informed this is completely wrong. I'll wait until next year so I can do it up right with the gals. Let's bring in 40 with a bang! Never too old for a first time, right? Hahahahaha!

I think they said we could've kept the Corona bottles if we wanted to. They were plastic. I didn't save one.

Hah! I'll make sure you get those.

And of course I have a few good ones of some Castaway landmarks, like Cookies, Too! that I'll share as well. ;)

First of all, I am totally impressed that you remembered the guy's name! He was a cutie, for sure! Coulda been skewed by the booze, admittedly. Cute but us older gals are likely to break those youngsters. :D

O.M.G. I tooootally forgot about the taste of that red shot thing. It did taste like licking an envelope, tho. You know it did. Thank God for beer to chase it with. Sheesh! And, yeah, the "not-so-family-friendly" shot request. That poor guy. He was blushing so bad! It was priceless! I forgot all about this stuff! Did you write it all down or something???? Good grief! I could hold my drinks waaaaay better as a 16 yro that weighed next to nothing. What has happened to me?!?!

"Show me the cookies!"

I remember that! Oh wait, that's when you were gone.... :angelic:

**edit**
To my darling husband: I did not show anybody anything that I shouldn't have. Promise. Mmkay?

Yep. St. Martin is all Maho. St. Thomas I've chartered a sailboat for the day to take us snorkeling and beach-combing. I looked at the island tours for St. Thomas but Tracey said, "If I'm looking at water that amazing I'll be damned if I ain't getting in it." Can't argue with that.

The German cabana attendant was Andreas. I think we shocked him!! But we sure made him laugh a lot. I'll bet he'd knock over all the other cabana attendants to be assigned to us again next time. :D

If my hazy mind recalls correctly, like a good little trip reporter, Shannon (@Ariel484) took a picture of Komgrit's name tag so we'd remember.

September 11, 2013 - ...Tales of life upon the sea...

Today was our at-sea day. Of course having turned-in early I was plenty rested.

I must've had breakfast. This is in the stairway somewhere onboard.

Christina, Jen, and I did some stuff but I'm not sure where lunch fit into it all. I wanna say we went to see Jack Jack's Diaper Dash before. We thought Admiral Donald looked cute with the plush Jack Jack's.

The Diaper Dash lanes.

Never too many pics of this beautiful sculpture. You can never be in it's presence without being in awe.

Quite a few people turned out to watch the babies race.

Lunch was at Royal Court Palace. (Sorry. Wrong ship.) I was hoping to find the awesome panini on the menu but it wasn't there today. I had the burger instead and it was delish.

The 3 of us also signed up for a chocolate tasting. It was only $15. At such a low price we weren't sure if there'd be alcohol pairings but there was. Here's the setup as they were still getting things prepped.

The tasting was held in Pink, the champagne bar. I do love this girly place.

Dang at the need for some de-noise on this shot. :banghead:

Each thing to eat or taste was paired with something. This first melty chocolate thing was eventually paired with champagne.

Behind is a parmesan cheese, I think, that was paired with a port wine. Then was another melty chocolate that I forget what it got paired with. Darn. The last little dish of chocolates was paired with the teensiest little pour of scotch. You gotta really look to see it. This scotch was like $800 a bottle or something. :jawdrop: Hence, the teensy little pour. :p

Now, I'm not typically a wine drinker. I don't care for scotch at all. I was there for the chocolate. But, during the tasting the point was to see how these tastes all interact with each other. We'd first taste the drink to get an idea of the flavor. Then we'd eat some of the paired chocolate or cheese. Taste the drink again. HUGE difference. It was fascinating to experience. The scotch? Eh, you coulda just poured rubbing alcohol in that glass. It was all burn. Nasty stuff. The rubbing alcohol would've been a better bargain, too. LOL! All the chocolate was devine.

Now that I think about it, we must've had lunch after the tasting because I remember practically licking the little chocolate glasses. I was starving. LOL!

Next for the day was the private girls cruiser's mixology class. Every. single. one. of us was signed up for this one. Class was back in Pink. How fitting! I took zero pictures other than this one of Shannon holding cameras for some of the gals up at the bar mixing one of our cocktails.

Each of us had the opportunity to stand behind the bar and mix several of one of the cocktails for the group. It was really a lot of fun. I was in the first group pouring the layered B-52 shots. I've poured them before so it was fun to see if I could still do it. Yep. Wish I had a picture! Other girls took pics so I'm sure you'll see it at some point. What I loved MOST was after all the drinky-drinks were done our bar team provided the ladies in the bunch who didn't drink alcohol the chance to go behind the bar and do some non-alchoholic drinks. Yes, some actually paid the money to come even tho they don't drink. It was all in the spirit of having fun together. In the end, they got to do some mixing, too. I absolutely loved that everyone had the chance to participate. These are the Disney differences, y'all. :inlove:

Question: When the cabana boys deliver to the water - are they sans cabana shirt?

No. But I imagine in the late afternoon with the right tip....... Just kidding! It's Disney! LOL!

Oh good! Well, next time we gotta address this apparent travesty. Yes?

Whatever the names were, could've been more than one guy, I dunno, I'm sure we are remembered. Hey, never too old to raise an eyebrow and go down in history. Heck yeah!

If my hazy mind recalls correctly, like a good little trip reporter, Shannon (@Ariel484) took a picture of Komgrit's name tag so we'd remember.

Maybe it was more than 1 cabana guy. I know there's not just 1. Both Komgrit and Andreas sound familiar. I'm envisioning 2 scenarios:

"Hey dude. #6 is calling again. You're up. I've had my fill."

~~or~~

"Hey dude. #6 is calling again. You gotta see these chicks to believe it."

LOL! Jager is bad news for me! I'm more of a tequila girl myself! Girl do it up for your 40th!

Tequilla = Ta-kill-ya. No way, Jose. <--pun intended

Andreas was the guy with the shades and hat who'd take the order at the front door. Komgrit was the guy who delivered it from the beach side. :D

Oh dang! Almost forgot!

After mixology everyone went to the big staircase in the atrium for a group pic. Pam gave everyone light-up cruise mouse ears as a fish extender gift so we all put them on and piled onto the stairs for a picture. It was sooooo cool. I bought the picture in case any of the ladies need a scan. When I brought it home and showed it to my guys they all said the same thing: "Wow! There were a lot of you!" Yep. I'm so proud! Charter members of the unOfficial WDWMagic Dream Girls Crew!

It was a relaxing day at sea. At-sea days are the next best thing to Castaway Cay. That's not a lie!

Unfortunately, the best of days on the best of cruises have to come to an end. I spent waaaay too much time repacking my suitcases and getting ready for dinner. A whole line of us were out on the verandah to take in the final sunset. It was beautiful. I enjoyed that serene moment with all the girls. It was a good closing moment for sure. And, of course, I loved the way the light and colors played with the clouds.

Time for our final dinner at Animator's. So perfect to close with this one. While waiting for the restaurant to open an alarm sounded and this emergency door slid shut suddenly. Never seen that happen before. :jawdrop: I think someone might've pushed the button on the wall. I snapped a quick pic of the door shut to show Tracey. There's a little button on the wall that you can see up high right next to the door. I think this must open & shut the door.

So the restaurant doors opened and we all the girls started filing to our tables. A bunch of the cabana gals were sitting at one table so I thought I'd sit with them since I hadn't seen much of them today. As soon as I sat they all jumped up and ran to the other big table. I was like:  Do I stink or something??? :hungover: I started to feel a little crushed  but then I just shrugged it off and figured whatever. Tammy & Missy sat down near me so that was pretty cool. Remember the giggle fest pre-cruise??? Good times!:happy::happy:

I sat here for the final dinner.

So we're sitting here and dinner is beginning with drink orders and such. If anyone has ever dined in Animator's on the Dream and/or Fantasy you'll be familiar with the Crush show format. Basically Crush "swims" around from tank window to tank window and converses with different diners sorta like when he converses with kids in Turtle Talk with Crush. Well, I was sitting by the tank window. Guess who talked to me?! I forget the conversation exactly and I so wish I had a video of it. Basically Crush referred to me as "Cool Kelly". Of course he wanted to know who I was cruising with.

Here we go.

"27 friends, all ladies"

"You're here with 27 ladies??? Where's your families?"

"We left them at home. It's ladies ONLY."

Crush's face did this --->:jawdrop: It was JUST like that!

Then Crush started calling out to the rest of the dining room: "Dudes! Dudes! All you dudes out there! There's 27 ladies over here! You don't want to miss this!"

It was hilarious! I was dying laughing!

So then Crush said his goodbyes. It was sooooo fun. I don't think we could've had a better interaction.

Theeeeeeen, the next big surprise happened. All the girls from the other table(s) came and gathered around our table. I'll save the sappy speach part but they collectively thanked Tammy & I for pulling the whole thing together, yada yada yada. They handed each of us a gift bag with a small plush Minnie and a thank you card that contained a Disney gift card. When I looked at the card they had each written some sweet personal message of thanks and signed it. All of them. The inside of the card was completely covered.

Aaaaaand then I did this. Again. Dang girl genes. I told them they broke me and made me leak. Cannot say enough how much that moment meant to me. They didn't have to do that. It was so thoughtful. Much love to all my girls out there. There's none better. :inlove::inlove::inlove:

This totally explains the jumping up and running to the other table. They were hiding the presents. LOL! Another highlight for the night: I didn't stink! It's the little things, y'all. :joyfull:

After dinner we ran to Shutters to make our photo purchases. I would've thought this late in the evening the ship would be dying down. Nope!

Pretty sure I did the old lady routine and returned to the room for the night. Made my final prep for tomorrow's debarkation, stowed my final stuff, and off to dream-land before midnight.

Wish I had a picture! Other girls took pics so I'm sure you'll see it at some point.

There's a picture of your shift on facebook (maybe Sherry took it?), and when I first saw it, I thought, hey I don't remember being up there then...and then I realized it was you! The red hair faked me out...it's not often I get to be in the company of other redheads! :) I'll get a screen capture and post it here.

Edit: yup, Sherry's pictures. You're in two of them:

Oh, and the group shot came out GREAT!! Thanks for getting and sharing that one!

@Tiggerish , totally agreed on the cruising with other redheads. We definitely coulda been sisters! Ah! So there's pics on FB! Dang! Is there a way that non-FB people can see???

I think breakfast pre-cruise, welcome reception, mixology, and group pic were the big together things. Maybe for the big pic at sailaway??? BTW, the banner was perfect! Definitely will get more mileage out of that baby. Thank you soooo much for hooking us up with that! We should try to do more of the together things for next time. Maybe we can try to do 1 event per day. Hmmmmm....

September 12, 2013 - When a journey ends another begins.

It's D-Day. Dreaded Debarkation Day. All good things come to end. It has to be that way so don't despair. Every adventure has to end so another one can begin, right?

For the first time ever I decided not to do the quick early debarkation. I actually stuck around and did my assigned main dining room breakfast. It was nice to sit but the lines heading off the ship and in customs were waaaaaay longer than I've ever seen.

Buh-bye, Dream. Thanks for all the memories.

Christina and I made our way out to the DCL buses. We said our goodbyes, hugs, and went to our respective buses. She was heading to the airport. I was not.

I got on this bus prepared. My beloved crispy treats tucked in my bag. You know you can order these from room service, right???

Waiting to go.

Within a minute or 2 guess who boarded the same bus and plopped down in the seat next to me??? Jess & Siobhan! Woot! It wasn't long at all and we were rolling out.

Final photos.

Goodbye Dream. Goodbye Dream Girls. Until next time.

To be continued......(CLICK HERE)
