Hurricane Irma

Does anyone know how screwed the WDW area is looking right now?
The morning forecast updates on the local news media are showing the track has moved a little more west overnight and the eye of the storm is coming right over Orlando now. It's expected to be more severe than Charlie in 2004 which did major damage throughout central FL when it came through.

It's looking like it could be bad as of now, we are supposed to leave this morning from Kentucky, and have been holding off to cancel all week (hoping for a miracle turn out to sea), but by the look of things it's finally sinking in that it's not a good idea to go forward with our trip...

We're supposed to come down the evening of sept 14. I was optimistic it would be fine, then when I saw the size (even with the eye over the Atlantic) I was cautiously optimistic. As it's continued to shift westward, I've become cautiously pessimistic:( I really hope FL is ok -- not for my trip; just, bottom line, ok.:(

Latest track has it moving through my neck of the woods in Bama after it moves through FL and GA. Not trying to minimize the impact in the other states at all, as I know they will bear the brunt of it, but we have had extended loss of power and major tree damage before from these, as a lot of rural Alabama is very poor and completely unprepared to deal with something like this. My prayers for everyone involved. Stay safe and ready.

People, could you please stay on topic? Just as people checking in to see what is going to happen at WDW were not really interested in reading multiple posts debating high rise building window specs, they're also not interested in the posts going into great detail about the survival of specific wildlife in the keys. Please take those conversations elsewhere, and before you post, please ask yourself if what you say will be of interest to the majority of posters who are just looking for hurricane updates.

Mea culpa - I've also been guilty of following others off the path.

I'm staying at Pop! I wonder if there will be short lines at all the rides
Lines were already quite short yesterday. I always use Pan as a gauge which was @ 20 minutes a few times as was Test Track and many other attractions that typically have long waits. While it's fun to enjoy the empty parks, I also feel for the CM's, many of which are my friends, as they will be there to create the magic and help keep people's minds off of things while at the same time worried about their families, friends, belongings and property. I don't even think I could do it (same amazing kudos to our first responders, nurses and other essential personnel at hospitals, etc as well!). I really do expect the parks to close with this current track but for those that are already there on vacation, I'm certain they will do an amazing job throughout the entire situation and there will be some short lines.
