You'd be surprised, with Tourism being such a huge part of Florida's economy, they will most likely get all the attention first as far as power lines repaired, debris moved etc. But I agree, I am not sure they will be able to open. We also have to think about the service trucks that need to get in a out to delivery food/beverage etc. They might not be able to have everything they need by Tuesday. The current estimate are for 50% without power in the Orange/Osceola areas. Overall they expect 2.5 million locations w/out power. Major substations and delivery lines will certainly fail during this storm. Recovery will take sometime; honestly, I'll be surprised of WDW is up and running Tuesday; They will be severely short staffed; just clean up alone will be a major undertaking; not to mention i'm sure their own staff may not be able to get to work or have any utilities at their own home. Now the storm does seem to be going more west which may change the winds a bit. but 80-110 mph sustained winds for hours is going make a mess of the area.
The storm weakened because of eye-wall replacement that happens in hurricanes, it gain strength again, however some of the mountains in Cuba may help rip some of it up.
If I had to guess, expect WDW closed late Sat through Monday. Tuesday right now is a crapshoot, depending on the severity of the storm.

But only in Georgia...They have reversed the southbound express lanes on I-75

And thats only about a 10 mile stretch if that.. it will bottlsneck once it merges back to the northbound lanes but better than nothingBut only in Georgia...
Not that I want this to happen, but isn't there some warm, deep water for Irma to pass and strengthen over before it makes landfall in southern FL? Just concerned that some may downplay Irma a little since it's weakened overnight, but Harvey went from 0-150 in what seemed like a day once it was over some warmer Gulf water.
Correct. Even just that should help as it is one of the two areas that Google traffic is showing as red.But only in Georgia...
I assume you mean a week from today. Saturday (9/16) for me, hopefully.
No like right now. I live in Orlando. I haven't heard they are closed
I would go today if you're already prepared for a hurricane. From photos I've seen it's almost empty. Perfect day to go!
There's a possibility of it going back to a 5. A lot of water, and warm water, to pick back up. Hopefully she's getting tired and weakens instead of strengthens.
I don't think storms get "tired" lol yes they are saying best case scenario is winds stay same but due to warmer water getting weaker is highly unlikely and stronger is possible.
Sounds like Sunday night into Monday morning will be a very restless night in Orlando for the worst part of it. By Saturday night, we will be getting the wind. When's it projected for Orlando? Saturday night?
Do you think Disney will stay open til late afternoon Saturday?
I might be going to Epcot tonight. What better way to calm the hurricane panic than with DisneyI would go today if you're already prepared for a hurricane. From photos I've seen it's almost empty. Perfect day to go!
