Housekeeping

We would really like this being two seniors, we're not messy. And we all know that if they did this, you would just turn around and use the gift card while we're there and probably spend more money on food or souvenirs. We don't think this would necessarily mean less mouse keepers but it would give them a little more time to spend cleaning up the really messy rooms.

How does a hotel NOT offer this service? I understand opting out, but some actually just don't do it? The hotel I stayed at in New York called my room to check and see if I needed anything (and the housekeeper even asked me in passing if I was sure and if I needed anything) and one of the Disney Springs neighbor hotels left a note under the door about it.

Of course it becomes "they're cheap and reducing housekeeping". We don't know that for a fact but let's keep making assumptions. But to be fair, if many guests aren't wanting housekeeping, they probably do have to reduce the staffing and how they schedule them. JMO.

I like the idea of a gift card. I'm someone who doesn't really get housekeeping done because I often go solo. If it's longer than a few days, I'll get it but I'm quick to put up the do not disturb sign. I don't need everything changed daily or having someone in the room.

The only reason Disney makes any changes is to increase efficiency which leads to lower costs and higher profits or to prevent themselves from other types of financial losses (ie. being sued, change in government regulations, etc.) So, yes, Disney is being cheap and reducing (insert affected service here).

The first thing that came to my mind was this is a pre courser to them charging at the value resort for getting mouse keeping then?
Then, the 2nd thing is the people that some people need all the help they can get with there hygiene, waiting in some of the lines I have waited in. The stenco-meter was at 11 once.
Lastly, having those little pieces of magic like animals and having my daughters dolls tucked in were great.

You know what's funny?
When it comes to housekeeping, using less resources is what every hotel should strive for as long as it doesn't negatively impact the type of service available to guests.

I could see this potentially being a positive. Less time spent picking up after Guests every single day means the housekeepers can focus more intensely on cleaning vacant rooms.
I see it as the quality (cleanliness) of your room degrading over the length of your experience.

So this is the result of Disney hiring a 3rd party company to help them with housekeeping? If so, color me underwhelmed...

Disney brought a 3rd party company in to REDUCE THE COST of housekeeping this is, Not IMPROVE housekeeping, The 20 buck gift cards will soon disappear as well I give those 90 days max and soon housekeeping outside of the DVC schedule will be an 'upcharge' item just as it is for us DVC members.

Mission 'Sav-a-Buck' Accomplished.

Once again So glad I'm not visiting any longer because things like this were part of my Dystopian nightmares now they are coming true.

I would love this, $20 a day for what I prefer to do anyway. Sounds almost too good to be true.

Don't worry it IS too good to be true,

Meanwhile grab those gift cards while you can as they are a teaser soon to disappear when Disney announces that hotels will be cleaned on the DVC schedule due to 'Guest Demand' and additional cleanings will be an upcharge item just as they are for DVC members now.

. Went downstairs to ask what was up and was informed that Starwood changed their "going green" program a while back from just not replacing towels to completely giving up housekeeping
What?? Most green programs mean hanging up towels if you don't need replacing, and changing sheets every 3 or 4 nights unless otherwise requested-things I am fine with. But no service at all??

Most Timeshares don't get any service at all, so a refresh on day 4 and full service day 7 IS a perk. I don't care when we stay in a timeshare because I can do that stuff my self anyway, and there is more room to spread stuff out, I am not tripping over stuff as I round the bed to pull up a cover.
Now a regular motel room I DO want my bed made and trash taken care of, stuff replenished etc. I am on vacation, staying in a 340SQ room-yes I want it tidy when I come back, because the space is cramped already. But yep-definitely see this as a way to reduce upkeep from daily automatic, to 2x week and PAY if you want more (on top of ridiculous prices already-RESORT fee anyone??)
