Hi Ho Hi Ho its off to the World I go! Trip Report Aug 1-8th

I just returned from a wonderful week down at the happiest place on Earth. So let it begin.

Who we are:

Andy-My DH 31 yr old. Graphic Artist. Hated Disney with a passion until our honeymoon and now is just much of a Disney freak as myself.
Aleisha-Me. 29 yr old. Staffing Assistant. Been a Disney freak for most of my life. I am also allergic to Beef, pork and dairy which means a lot of my food reports will be totally different.

We live in the DC area, about 25 minutes outside of it to be in fact, and head down to the world at least once a year.

There is another player in here, we have a six month old son, Logan. We originally planned on taking him, but my mom and dad offered to watch him while we were down.

Day 1:

August. 1. 2009

We were at Dulles International airport at five in the morning, for our originally scheduled 7:40 am flight. Grabbed a bagel and a soda and sat there waiting. Now let me say, when we booked the flight, we were thinking great, we can get down there early, enough our day and not have to worry about anything. But after sitting on the plane for an hour after we were supposed to take off we were seriously doubting the whole thing. Apparently they had some issues with the plane and couldn't decide if they were going to need a new plane. Lucky for us, it all turned out well and we were on our way an hour later than usual.

Hit up the ME and for the first time, was able to sit right up front so that I could watch as we passed through the Golden Sign we all love. Let me tell you, I don't know who was more excited. Myself or the five year old across from us.

We got to Old Key West and checked in, using online check in. What an easy process, dif. reccomend it if you get a chance. We found that our room wasn't ready yet so we went down to DTD while we waited. Did some minor shopping knowing that we would be there for the entire week. When we got the text, that our room was ready we headed back to check out the room, before hitting up Poly for dinner that night.

We had reservations for 'OHannas that evening. Once again, we love this place. Plenty for us to eat, though there were a few mixups with my allergies but it was quickly fixed. While we were eating, there was a family beside us that let their kid watch a portable DVD player the entire time they were eating, which we thought was sort of strange. We think he may have had Autisim or something but weren't sure.

Some food sample:

Noodles.

My husbands Hawaiian Bread.

On to Magic Kingdom where we road Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain. The last time we were in Disney, I was pregnant and Big Thunder had been down so it was a double pleaure for both my husband and I to actually be riding it once again. While I enjoyed being pregnant down in the world, it made riding the rides that much more enjoyable this go around. You forget how much you love them until you can't ride them.

By this point it was late, and we had been up since four in the morning, and while wanted to do a lot more, exhaustion ruled out and we headed back to OKW to take a much needed sleep before we hit the parks hard the following day.

Day two to come...

Day 6

August 6, 2009

Now that we had been here for several days, we had pretty much done and seen everything we wanted to at least once so we took the opportunity to go back and redo things that we wanted to.

Started off in Animal Kingdom, where we once again rode the safari and Everest. The safari was actually quite interesting, because there were animals we had never seen before. We don't know if we had just never noticed them or it was due to the fact it was still relatively early and not in the middle of the day. We also seemed to notice a lot of French and Canadian tourist.

Not to mention the number of hockey fans, which obviously pleased my husband. Even if he wasn't fond of the team in particular.

After the two rides at AK, we figured we had seen enough and wanted to check out Wilderness Lodge, my husbands favorite resort, and since we will be staying there in February we wanted to head on over.

took some goofy shots and hung out there for the afternoon.

After we had relaxed we decided to hit up Epcot again, we had dinner reservations in Japan anyway, and they had EMH that night so we figured we would close out the night there. We tried to hit up Soarin again but it was already out of Fast passes and the line was outrageous. Instead we walked the worlds again, rode Norway where I found the Hidden Mickey! Andy was kind of bummed that I bet him for he had only been looking for it for awhile now apparently.

Afterwards we went shopping around the World before checking in to Japan. Dinner of course was great. We sat by a couple who had just gotten married and had a delighful conversation with them. It was just really nice. Andy of course was trying to sell them on DVC while I just sat there, figuring if they wanted to join, I wasn't going to push. Not that Andy was the couple was generally interested and kept asking about the whole thing. Andy was more than happy to talk about it.

After dinner we grabbed a perfect spot to watch Illuminations

Unfortunantely none of our fireworks pictures really came out but oh well.

After the fireworks we were tried one more time for Soarin but everyone was heading that way so we decided to head back. On the way we did see a Tupperware (sp?) group heading to a private party and thought it was just a bit odd...

I find it kind of strange that you would think the child at O'Hana's had some type of condition. I have considered use my portable DVD for my 21 month old. She is perfectly healthy but is entering the terrible two's. she not what u would call an "in house diner." The parents in this situation probably didn't want to make a scene.

Day 7

August 7, 2009

Our last full day at the world. :(

So we tried to put in as much as we could.

Headed to Epcot once more, jumped in line to ride Soarin' just in time for the crowds to hit.

We then jumped on a bus, and eventually made our way to Hollywood studios where we once again saw American Idol. In the crowd, they did the whole camera on the crowd and they caught me dancing and singing so the host made sure to zoom in on me...being a shy and quiet person I am I think I turned beat read. The lady who won, was incredible...she just about made me cry. She was blind and to see her reaction, along with her dog assistant who jumped up and down when they announced her was just something amazing.

We then made our way to TSM and stood in line, even if it was a 70 minute wait. Turned out to be interesting for we found something went missing:

Found it!

Actually it popped off while we were in line. Just randomly fell off.

Caught the block party..and had a great time

And for our final night, we had reservations at the 50's Prime Time. What a great place. The food wasn't our favorite but the atmosphere was a blast. And what great characters they all were

HS was closed by the time we got out, so we went over to MK, where as a tradition we always end our trip watching Wishes and once again I cried. This is also the only time I allow myself to break of my allergies (it won't kill me) and I knew I would be heading back to the hotel shortly if I had a reaction. I only get the real thing once or twice a year...

IMG_2293.jpg

Yummy....

And before I knew it, it was over and I was sitting there staring at the Castle thinking back and crying. With the Mickey Mouse Club song stuck in my head...

I was returning to reality tomorrow. And while I missed my son, and couldn't wait to bring him to my happy place.

I wasn't exactly ready to return to reality.

And because nothing happened on Day 8 except packing, heading to the airport and returning home to find the airport lost our luggage., this ends my trip report....

Until the next one that is!

I was only thinking he may have something because he was 12 or so...that is the only thing that lead us to think this. I have seen several people at local restaurants including my own sister with her young children do the same thing but never for someone entering their teens...you are right, perhaps they didn't want to cause a scene at all and this was a perfect way of keeping the kids attention.

I just finished reading your trip report...loved your photos and your son is simply adorable!!! I am glad you and DH were able to enjoy the trip even though your Logan was at home. I am actually quite jealous...my DD just turned 11 and we have never taken a WDW trip without her. Of course the opportunity would have been when she was younger to go without her because now she is just at hooked as her parents:)

There's that entrance sign pic again! I swear it is not normal how that gets to me even in someone elses report. :lookaroun The report was great btw and I am so glad you enjoyed Le Cellier. I love that place, it did not disappoint us either when we finally got to try it. And I have to say your little boy is absolutely adorable. :)

Thanks for sharing!
