Has anyone had a good experience with magic Express?

Just got back from Walt Disney World.

We never received our luggage tags prior to the trip. I decided to have my husband grab the luggage while I checked in with DME. Just to let everyone know, the DME is located on level 1 by the rental car desks. This is important to let know if you decide to grab your bags yourself. When I checked in with DME, they gave me a certificate for a free pin and lanyard since we were pulling our bags ourselves and had never received the tags. I thought that was very nice of Disney.

After I went and found my husband at baggage claim, we were back down to DME and were able to get right onto a bus that was only going straight to our resort. We arrived at our resort about 45 minutes after departing our plane.

Going back wasn't as great, however not bad. We did the resort airport check in thing. Was very easy to do in the morning. We were told we would be on the 4:10 bus for our 7:05 flight. The 4:10 bus never really came, and we finally boarded a bus at 4:50 that was mainly full of people from another resort. We were able to get on that bus because we did not have our luggage with us. Another bus pulled up as we were about to leave the resort. And for some reason, the movie playing on the bus was Shark Tales. I didn't think this was a Disney movie?

All and all, a good DME experience. Still has some kinks, but I see it's potential, and our bags arrived safely back in Dallas.

I'm really looking forward to Magical Express. They should stop showing Shark Tale though. I have nothing against that movie. It's just that (call me crazy) I would much rather watch a Disney movie while I'm on my way to WDW.

our driver put the wrong movie on! Ours started on the way to the resort and it said "Thank you for choosing the Walt Disney World Resort we hope you enjoyed your stay" I was like uh oh i didnt even get there yet! but I didnt have a problem with ME. I enjoyed it it was a quick trip i mean we had to wait at the airport for like 15 - 20 for teh bus to fill up but no problems there. then off to the resort. my bags werent in when i got there so i just went to mk (i had my carryon packed with stuff i would need til my bags got it) i did find it very convenient and the fact that it was comfortable made it better. i enjoyed it a lot. i think its starting to work itself out

One hour, 15 minutes from disembarking from the plane to the resort isn't too bad. People are slow getting off a plane...

Check-in must have been a little crowded...45 minutes
Hey guys I Am back!!! Thanks to Duke for posting my times & Stuff for me, but I forot to jot down that check in was after my party decided lunch was in order as there was somewhat of a line at check in. I figured Id be happier waiting if my tummy was full!!!! THAT is the 40 minutes that is missing!!! Sorry all. The actual check in line at Riverside was about 10 minutes, and as a sidenote, Riverside was COMPLETELY booked this weekend.
Also on the way in the woman who was driving our bus was fine. She didnt have any dumb comments ( See below) or wise cracks to give us during our trip. She was careful and considerate as far as her driving went.
The return trip was not quite as magical. The bus definitely arrived on time, we were boarded, ( When I am more awake I will write up a guide to DME as it seems like a LOT of the CM's at the resorts are not quite up to speed on what documents are needed and when!!!) The guy who picked us up was an older gentleman who made it a point to tell us that he wasnt going to do the last two stops assigned as the bus was full, he also made a very big point as to how he doesnt work for Disney, that he only earns $7.65 an hour and how Disney has messed up this system SO BADLY that 30 of the drivers quit last week!!!! I was appalled!!! He wasnt a bad driver and the bus was on time ( 5minutes late but that is fine) I predict the end of the Mears drivers pretty shortly and an increase in the drivers for Disney taking over the service entirely!!! This guy was just too much!!!! It was a very jarring trip back to reality!!!!! As I said not a bad trip, but I could seriously do with less attitude!!! That is why I go to Disney to get away from that!!! I do have the guy's name and will be reporting him. Belle

Sitting on the wall at the Off Kilter Stage!!!

Our niece and daughters (11, 9 & 5) had us watch Off Kilter two shows in a row. After the first show, they asked if the guys "if we stay for the next show will you play Irish Rover?" the guys of course said SURE! So there they were sitting on the ground front row waiting for "their song"...after the concert the guys let them come up on the stage for photos...I think those have become their favorite photos...even bumping the Mouse himself out of first place! Sorry for the thread drift.....

btw Wannabelle, I think we must have had the same return driver...

Marie (Belle) was not merely sitting at the stage. She was full blown concert mode rockin' out. I loved it!! Everytime I walked by the stage, I looked for her, and it paid off on my last day!! :)

A lot of the negative internet press was driven by sites that didn't want ME to succeed - many of which are sponsored by towncar services, etc.

It really isn't that bad at all. My only advice is to skip the baggage part - just get your own bags. It's just easier that way and you are assured of not having to wait later on.

I wanted to share my very positive Magical Express experience. I was going down for a seminar and we did get our bag tags the week before we left. I followed the directions, put the tag on my bag and (having read all the horror stories) crossed my fingers when I said good-bye to the bag at the airport. Upon arrival in Orlando at 11:45am, I went right down to the Magical Express desk, checked in and was directed to the waiting area and was on a bus by 12:15pm. We arrived at my hotel at 1:15 after making two other stops. My bag was in the room when I got there at 7:30pm. On the return, I was able to use the Resort Check-in (flying on Delta/Song) and said good-bye to my bag at 8am and never saw it again until arriving in Boston at 11pm. Return transfer arrived right on time. Couldn't have been more smooth.

My roommate had a more complicated experience. He came in from a different part of the country and his bag did not make it to the room by 7:30pm, so he make the appropriate phone calls to begin the search process. The Magical Express folks and hotel front desk manager seemed certain the bag would be located that night, but since my roommate was not convinced, they allowed him to buy some clothes at the hotel shop just in case, charge them to the room and they would remove the charge from his bill. The bag did show up and was delivered to the room at 2:30am (at my roommate's request). So happy endings all around.

So my advice is to know what you're doing and follow directions and you will be just fine.

:)

YES, I did, and then he yelled at me, and I panicked and got scared. But it was funny.
