I watched that in 7th grade!!!!! I still sing that part all the time and I'm in the 10th grade.
I want to see the changes though with the other things. I think it will be interesting to hear his speech and GW's as well.

Is it the general consensus that he'll record his own vocals for it (like others have done). I wonder if he'll contribute to the wardrobe in any way (like Reagan) and what he'll donate to the waiting area.

I hope you speak the truth! This is the Change that we REALLY need!

maybe Soarin' will fall into line with this...It's hard to feel like I'm flying when there are huge black defects on the film! :)

Sorain is an IMax flim witch as of right now is imposable to make a digital copy of. The reson you see "defects" on it is becuse of dirt on the lens or posobly dirt on the print. IMax is very sensitive to both of those as the image is larger then the normal filed of view for a film.

I have had just the opposite for the last three years. Lots of booing and snarls when the current president is speaking. Which was followed with giggling in response.

That really is unfortunate.

I am looking forward to seeing what Obama will say in the HoP!

Please remember the no politcal discussion rule. I've removed posts that discuss the reaction to specific presidents, both pro and con. Discussion about changes to the attraction are fine.

Can you link me to some of those cuts? I only have one, sadly.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7PMWyTOECw&feature=related (Reprise of "The Lees of Old Virginia")

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC649G55UbQ&feature=related (longer "more than compensate with spirit" scene)

The unloaders have more, juts some minor trims mostly.

At the risk of being controversial, the only musical I dislike more than 1776 was Oliver!

:dazzle:

Next your going to tell me you don't like Hello, Dolly!, The Music Man, The King and I, Gigi, Oklahoma!, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Fiddler on the Roof, Guys and Dolls, Victor/Victoria, or any other of the many musicals I like.

Most of those I liked, especially Fiddler on the Roof and Victor/Victoria. But my favorites, besides Ragtime, are The Lion King, Sunset Boulevard, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Cabaret (the musical, not the movie), Little Shop of Horrors (again, the musical, not the movie) Chorus Line (ditto with hating the movie), Sweeney Todd (loved the movie, too), Evita, Grand Hotel, 42nd Street, Dames at Sea, and Into the Woods.

I think my dislike of Oliver! is from the scene where Bill Sykes beats his grilfriend and she still hangs on (as long as he needs me!), and from being involved in two productions where the part of Oliver went to a cute kid who could not sing at all.

I feel it will be incredibly poignant to have President-elect Obama's speech following the speech of Mr.Lincoln. It'll truly show how far this country has come.

It is always exciting to see the newest president's animatronic!

Very true...I wonder what the speaking order will be? GWash, Lincoln, Obama?

It would be cool to get some interaction between the presidents.:D

Liberty Square is about the founding of the country.
It's themed toward the Colonial and Revolutionary War period.

I've always thought that what is now the Hall of Presidents should instead be the colonial leaders.
The animitronic figures could be George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Henry Knox, Nathanael Greene, John Adams, etc. The people that are featured when you go to Colonial Williamsburg. The leaders, both military and political, who were there when the USA was founded.
Also, a figure honoring the thousands of unamed citizen soldiers and patriots who served during that strategic time.

:)

We could have Adams and Jefferson fighting with each other. :)

Oh, that would be awesome.:king::lol:

That would be nice...Disney could pul lit off quite nicely.

The "Hall of the Revolution" idea is nice too but I would see it too much like AA...and who would be selected? The entire Cont. Congress? People are not going to know and respond to Elderbrige Gerry, Edward Rutlege and the like.:(

Sad but true...I would still love to see it though.;)

I've been on the side of not having the latest president speak in HoP. Regardless of your view of Obama's political philosophy, his election is historic and significant. I can see the great value of having him, in particular, give a speech in HoP and would be interested in hearing it.

At the risk of being controversial, the only musical I dislike more than 1776 was Oliver! I did costumes for both at a summer stock theatre years ago, and sitting through the rehearsals and performances was absolute torture. They're Playing Our Song was also pretty dismal. Now Ragtime - that's the best musical ever. Oh yeah, and back on track - looking forward to HOP rehab. Will I still be able to get a good nap?

As someone who has played in the orchestra for many community musical productions, I have to say, the hands down WORST to rehearse and play day after day was Brigadoon....

They could make it in the style of the movie at the new extension at Mount Vernon. For those who are unfamilar, Mount Vernon recently added a huge facility onto their existing one. I spend a lot of time there being that I am so close and that I am a historian. (not by trade but by education). The movie is interesting because it is almost like Philharmagic. What I mean is that when they show the winter at Valley Forge scene they actually blow fake snow at the audience. When they have one of the battle scenes the seats rumble at the sound of the canon fire.
There's a whole Army base named for Henry Knox in Kentucky.
It's the Army's Armor center, i.e., tanks.
The US gold vault is there also.

:)

BTW- I went through Armor Officer Basic training there, many years ago.
Yeah I know. I was thinking about Knox's reputation for being such a robust man. Come to think of it, I never paid attention to the "Taft" AA, who was also a portly gentleman. :)

EDIT: BTW, I like how you said "many years ago" as if you were saying "AAhh the youthful days". I did not realize that you were that, how shall I say, wise.:animwink:
