Hall of Presidents

They are also changing the projectors from film to digital.

I hope you speak the truth! This is the Change that we REALLY need!

maybe Soarin' will fall into line with this...It's hard to feel like I'm flying when there are huge black defects on the film! :)

There was an article somewhere last week (I think the Orlando Sentinal) that talked about all the upgrades for "The Hall"-- digital projectors, Washington's speech, better lighting for the "roll call", and they also mentioned recording the "new" President's speech.

I saw HoP on my first trip last month. Was a really great show, but I am a bit of a history buff. However during the part where Bush spoke I did hear some snide comments being made, and figure it would be the same if Kerry had won the last election. I read (can't remember where, JHM?) that they will be adding the speaking of Lincoln and Washington, and cease to record statements from current presidents, which is probably going to start a whole other discussion.

The Oct 31 article in the Orlando Sentinel seems to indicate they have every intention of including the current President's speech, assuming the current President is willing.

Now, let's just hope those new visitors can be respectful, and won't hoot, holler, and cheer over the dialogue.

I don't have confirmation, but have heard that they may be dropping the speech by the "current president" in future versions because of just that.
The sentinal article infers that it will possibly be added, but with the confirmed addition of the Washington speech, time may be impacted.
Something to speculate on for the next half year, we'll find out soon enough in either case

That's a shame.:( It's a very revelant and inspiring piece of the show no matter WHO the prez is.

And I have never had problems in HoP...People clap and cheer when the president is announced but never anything negative.(Even in 2001 after the whole Gore/Bush debacle)

I fail to see the point in adding a new AA just to see him in "roll call." Hopefully, he'll have a significant speaking part along with Washington and Lincoln. I really can't wait to see the Obama AA, Disney's AAs keep getting better and better. I am often creeped out by the HoP because the presidents look so, so realistic.

While it's a nice touch, I think the projection added to the vintage factor of the HoP. The digital stuff is MUCH more needed at Soarin. Although, I am really happy they decided to go the extra inch here to improve the attraction. Can't wait to see it when it reopens.

I agree. When we were there last Thanksgiving, there was loud applause for W. I can only assume that it will be the same for Obama.

Clearly you don't go on it as much as I do. Yea, not so much applause for the last guy lately.

I'm seriously excited about this! I have to be one of the few who love Hall of Presidents and I'm SO ready for the new AA, Upgraded sound system in the awesome theatre, and the digital restoration of a WDW Classic!

I experienced HOP several times over the past two summers and, unfortunately, I did not share your experience. On several occasions, there were some very inappropriate things shouted during George W. Bush's speech. Now, disagreeing with a President's policies is one thing, but yelling out profanity in a theme park attraction with kids around is something entirely different.

Thank you for sticking to the intended purpose of this thread.

I hope that the film gets some TLC and can't wait to see the new HoP on my next trip.

Someone actually asked me the other day if Washington actually walks on stage.

Deleting posts for no good reason is a great way to stiffle discussion and lose readers/hits to the site.

To act like the HoP isn't a politically-based attraction is truly ignorant.

My family saw HOP on Sat. Oct. 25 for the first time. (My husband and I saw it in 1997, but my son, 9, and daughter, 6, hadn't). We all really enjoyed it and were fortunate to have a very respectful audience in attendance. I think if I had heard any inappropriate or profane speech, it would have completely ruined it for all of my family. My son loves history and got a lot out of the presentation. Hopefully, after this long and arduous campaign and election, we as a nation can quell our opinions long enough to enjoy a theme park attraction!!!! (And not act like uneducated teen-agers). We all have a right to our opinions, but I don't necessarily want to hear everyone's opinions during a patriotic presentation.

As far as referb needs, the lighting during the roll call definately needs improvement! We all had a very difficult time following the spotlight on each president. Hopefully, this will improve.

Hey hold up on the attitude.

Its been proven time and time again over the last 10 years that people are incapable of discussing politics without it turning into an argument. This site is not about politics, its about Disney. The moderators have much better things to do than to constantly patrol political threads and continuously tell people to stop insulting each other.

Allowing political discusion is an even better way to lose readers - as people get very very upset over the slightest political talk that doesnt fit with their beliefs.

Wow, some heavy-handed moderating was done to this thread. Apparently it didn't matter whether the posts actually discussed politics, or not.

Exactly.

The attraction has always been political. It is about the men ... the politicians who have led this country and our way of government.

But when the current prez was given a speaking role it became a very partisan deal. And since we are so fractured as a country (the red and the blue? what is this the Civil War years?) it should be expected that some folks will make inappropriate jeers and cheers. And it has really gotten ugly the past 2-3 years.

It was an awful idea, and whether you are happy about last night's result or not, I think it is a terrible idea to give Obama a speaking role along with Lincoln and Washington.

That all may be true, but please re-read what Steve had posted. This is a Disney thread, and the site is private with published rules. This is not a site to discuss free speech or politics, K?

I thought there was some talk of changing the film entirely... Creating almost an entire new plot.

Do we know that's not happening? Seems like a LONG shut down to spit and polish and existing show. It's like, 10 months.

Maybe they're really doing something different with the whole presentation.
