I think it's probably much more plausible that the man with the highest level of authority possible was in town, and Jay R. was glued to him. To say it "destroys the theory that he doesn't give a hoot about the parks" is quite a bit of a stretch.
I think it's a little reaching to interpret intent based on the fact he was at a showing of a new attraction with his most highly ranking boss.
Wouldn't it be more telling to take a look at a long-term track record and reputation he's built with regard to his visiting the parks? I think so.
