Hall of Presidents Previews Today

The musical soundtrack itself is not really anything distinct or special. There is certainly not anything unique like Golden Dreams from The American Adventure. To be honest, music is really not a substantial part of the show.

For the most part it's just background music underneath the dialog and narration with an orchestral, historic feel (if that makes any sense) to it. Lots of violins and some choral background (no words) underneath parts. It's the sort of thing that sounds familiar but you've never heard before. I don't recognize any of the music having been part of earlier editions of the show.

The music under the Roll Call has a rolling version of Hail to the Chief.

Underneath Obama's speach is America the Beautiful and that builds following his speach to become the closer of the show.

Has "Battle Hymn" been removed? AtB is a good choice if it has I guess.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jay didn't know what it was.

Yes I think some somber parts of America's history must be shown in order to depict the challenges different Presidents faced throughout the years. It's not like sad things were the only things shown in any of the versions of the hall of presidents.
True, but that might be too AAish.
Obama just made the show worse...:hurl: It was good, but Obama ruined it..:hammer:
Politics rule much?

Sounds great, but subtle. I suppose if they had a ton of music it would get hectic.

Thanks. Do you have any negative reactions to anything or is it a home run?

I'd prefer to hold on final impressions until I have the chance to experience it when they're finished and all of the 'test-and-adjust' distractions are out of the way. There's something to the totally controlled experience when it's in normal operation.

The overall story-line of the show is much different than past versions refocusing it more on the presidents and less on the general american history. I'm sure some will try to hate that change just because it's different, but I actually like focusing on those that the attraction is named for. When this attraction was originally created we didn't have The American Adventure which does american history so well that in my mind nothing should be trying to compete with it. Now the shows are more complementary with less overlap in their story-line.

I really like that the AA's are a bigger portion of the show. After all that's what so many people go there to see. The achievement of them is absolutely amazing, especially showcasing the technical achievement while maintaining the dignity the show deserves.

The performances I saw were certainly not 100%, but to me that's completely fine given the preview nature of it. An improperly aimed light, or the wrong color on a spot and things aren't part of the show but part of 'test-and-adjust' and are completely understandable at this stage. They'll all get worked out in the next few days before the final opening.

I'll be curious as others get a chance to see it beginning with the AP preview this weekend what their impressions are.

I'm so glad they got rid of the overall American history angel with HoP. It always had a sugar coated view of America, which AA has a bit of, but no where near the extent of the old HoP.

Yes, but the fantasy and myth surrounding the role of "president" is still very much intact, no matter the new-ness. Older historical events are, I feel, more fabled and heroic than any event in the near present. I think that WWII is the perfect cutoff point. After that and the stories stop becoming "passive" and suddenly hit home, and not in a good way. People remember the present and become conscious of the now-ness of it all. I have a feeling that the new presidents, or at least Obama, will have minimal impact as he doesn't talk about the financial crisis, nor about haw he's the first black president, but rather on the same thing George Washington talks about, relating him back to the fantasy of presidents in general.

When you hear a little kid say "I want to be president some day!", they don't think about all the problems we have, but they see the reverence and magic of the idea of being president.

I think that it is important to show up to today, to remind us that history, no matter how recent, is history and how they act and how we shape it and our nation. People tend to forget things so easily nowadays it is good to remind them.

I'm thinking it would be associated with Lincoln and the CW...? Should be, anyway.

IT is also to some degree associated with more conservative elements such as the Republican party as research has shown. That could be kinda weird with Obama and all haha. I know it played at the end of the show at the last version after W's speech. But America the Beautiful has been utilized in other Disney Americana attractions so i have no problem with it.

I had never heard about it that way...CW was always what it's been associated with.

Interesting...*goes to research*

Thank you. I'm ecstatic they made a show that is different from the AA. That was key I think. So far everything I've heard is perfect. Couldn't ask for better.

Wow...the last couple trips I haven't even bothered with the HoP, as it seemed so corny. But this sounds great! I'm sorry it wasn't open for my recent trip.
