Halft Time show, Justin Janet

Let's see....Justin/Janet expressing their artistic side. No violation!
The 'streaker' just before the second half kickoff probably has a laundry list of indecent exposure charges against him!

The entertainment industry is out of control. Parents have an awesome task of controlling what their kids see cuz they can no longer presume a particular channel, event or show is safe for viewing. At some point, someone, somewhere has to file a class action lawsuit against these people for corrupting the morals of minors thru the use of public airwaves...the FCC is unwilling to step up to the task!

The problem is so FEW of these channels actually go over the air anymore, and cable operators have a lot more discretion. But I keep repeating myself, more than the FCC enforcing it, if people would STOP TALKING ABOUT IT, things like this wouldn't happen. It's all for the buzz and the shock value. Just look at how many threads on this topic are going on here alone!!

This bought 10,000 times more publicity than the best Super Bowl commerical. People paid millions for 30 seconds that we couldn't remember if we tried, but everyone was racing to their computers to be the first to post about this.

If this act happened, and no one mentioned a peep about it the morning , it would send a REAL message to the entertainers who thought it would be a good promotion. Either that or stop buying their albums, which no one will do either.

The heaviest fine the FCC can levy against them would only be a drop in the bucket, and for this level of promotion, probably considered well used advertising dollars to boot.

Well, if you choked on the one she was wearing last night, you'd be dead. That think looked like 'Titanium Spiked Tassle 2000'. You would be having surgery. Looks like something spiked out of the Brear Patch on Splash Mountain. (Looks like Justin found his happy place)

I heard the streaker went out wearing a refs uniform, then stripped at mid field. that would have been histarical to see, assuming that CBS would have done the bloching out of certain parts. just like the shoe commerical....any footage on this one? (the superbowl, not the shoe commerical.)

So true! It seems like with every year; the producers of the Super Bowl Halftime Show, try to out-do the previous year. Whatever happened to plain 'old fashioned' entertainment? By performers with class? Even though I love Aerosmith; their half time performance did not need Britney and Justin included. Thank goodness my boys love Animal Planet, and the Discovery Channel.

Sorry you are right, mine are smiley faces or Aerosmith wings depending upon my mood.

Nashville Mouse - she is not big enough to fall out - she definately needed help.

JBSLJames - I didn't actually like Kid Rocks outfit myself, but I still like his music. It appeals to my darker rebellious side:animwink:

Just saw this on my homepage:

The chief federal regulator of broadcasting said Monday he was outraged by the Super Bowl halftime show in which Justin Timberlake tore off part of Janet Jackson's costume, exposing her breast, and said he was ordering an immediate investigation.

Timberlake blamed a "wardrobe malfunction," but Federal Communications Commission chief Michael Powell called it "a classless, crass and deplorable stunt."

And my tassels are bright green. :D

LMAO.... That reminds me....I was flipping thru the channels during the slow part of the game and came across a documentary on Rhinoceros. Did you know that the a Rhinoceros pen!s actually points backwards? Well, that's what they said in very plain English. I wonder how many 7 or 8 year olds didn't know that....up until then?

Very interesting. A friend sent me a still photo with Justin with 'his hand in the cookie jar'. This is the photo I saw this morning on the news shows with the body part blurred out. (Also shows the tassle in great detail.) This proves Justin is a liar... a malfunction? The fabric is still in his hand!

I've only ever seen two halftime shows...besides this one, I saw the one with Aerosmith...I LOVED that one...the only thing that killed it for me that year was stupid Britney Spears...anywayyy this year I was like whatever because I was in my uncle's house and the fact that Justin was gonna be there was the only reason I was watching because yes I admit it I love the guy  ...anyway I didn't like what happened but I am not surprised that it was Janet Jackson because she is disgusting I mean come on she has a tattoo of Mickey and Minnie doing some naughty activity and the location of this tattoo...well you can imagine...so I never really liked her...Justin well I still love him but I didn't like what happened...

as far as everything else...I do not like Kid Rock he annoys me...Diddy and Nelly I liked and I liked the fact that they did old songs because I was able to sing along to the songs...too bad it was lip-synched...and I liked Rhythm Nation...I didn't really mind old songs because I was able to follow it and go "wow my songs from my high school/middle school days" if it were new songs I wouldn't have cared so much because I wouldn't have known what was going on...oh well this is all my opinion I know everyone has something different to say :)

This isn't meant to sound insulting or argumentative so please excuse me if it does.

I'm always intrigued as to the perception of nudity in America - why it is usually seen as such a no-no.

American TV has to be one of the most restricted in the developed Western World. For example in England there is only (I think) one swear word that cannot be said, and just one thing that cannot be shown after the watershed - and we're one of the more tightly regulated ones in Europe!

Granted that pre-watershed nudity is still a no-no as it should be, on the odd occasion that it does occur it doesn't seem to cause too much controversy, usually laughter - like the streakers at Wimbledon or The Lords that we get most years - even a Snooker Championship one year

I suppose that being from Europe I have a more liberal attitude to that sort of thing - As far as I can remember as as it was back in 1997, when Geri Halliwell's boobie popped out to say Hi! at the Brit Awards people just laughed at it!

The thing that still really makes me laugh though about US TV has to be the blurred buttocks :hammer:

EDIT: Even the BBC News has a gallery of pictures entitled "Janet Jackson's Super Bowl strip"

This morning on The View Joy was wearing fake under her shirt and Merideth "ripped" her shirt off to make fun of Justin and Janet. They made an announcement later on in the show that since its live on the East coast there was nothing they could do about it but the producer said that ABC was going to blur out the FAKE !!

and anyways... they've shown on ER before... not in a $exual mannor but still... a breast is a breast to a 12 year old boy
