It's already designed in such a way that it's hard to get started up the side... If you look in the photos, there's a large 7'-8' decorative stone wall at the bottom of the stairs. You have to get up and around the side of that before you can start climbing the actual (very steep) stairs. You can't just start climbing the stairs.

Oh I totally know about this. That's what I was talking about when I said that there was a big jump up.

The 6 or 7 foot decorative barrier was not there the first few years Epcot was opened. It was added later for just this reason. You used to be able to walk right up the steps if you wanted. Not really a big deal :lookaroun

Two things surprise about this incident.

1) There were no CMs or Security to get him down. He must've done it REALLY quick.
2) I thought the stairs were blocked off. Clearly they should be.

Crazy!

They should have an event at next years WDW Marathon were you run to the top and ring a bell to stop the clock. The runner/climber with the fastest time wins!:ROFLOL:
