Free Dining

I checked into this last night on other websites. It sounds as if the free dining might be linked with the hotel that you book. If you booked at a Value, you would not qualify. The moderate resorts receive the quick service and you would have to stay at a deluxe to get the regular dining plan. As I mentioned, this too is only a rumor...guess we will have to wait and see. I am already booked to go the end of August, I have never been to Disney during a free dining period, a little concerned about trying to get ADR's???

I hope that is not the case. My family and I are staying at the ASMu and I have been hoping the free dining would be there for the time that we go (Sept. 18-25). I will be so upset if we cannot get this deal just because we are staying at a value resort.

Same here, I have a bounceback free DDP booked for Aug. 23-31. Most years these free dining rumors and announcements are pretty exciting for me, but this year it's all a big snore. Now, if they announce free deluxe DDP, I'll drop everything and re-book. But that's about as likely as High School Musical 3 being added to the Great Movie Ride.

Yeah, ours is booked Sept. 30th, but I have to cancel. DW is due with our 3rd child that week. I'm hoping we get a deal Visa deal for December.

Can you imagine how much food would be consumed??? Although I wouldn't mind adding a few restaurants to those already on the list... I do have a hard time narrowing the choices as it is! I'd love it if they sweetened the deal even more - maybe throw in a gift card like they did in March!?!

As has been stated before, Disney has never restricted free dining to those staying only in Moderates and Deluxes. If you are a US resident, you qualify if you book a MYW package at ANY Disney-owned resort.

This is the first time that the free DDP offer has been restricted in this way in the UK, and we've had it a few times; so perhaps you may find that it happens over there too!

We booked the Free DDP back at Christmas and Elizabeth at Kingdom Konsultants did a great job with it all.

I'd like to clarify something for everyone concerning past plans. We have Annual Passes and we take the one day tickets on our KTTW card and hold them until we need to renew our pass and use it as a discount against the renewal. You're not out any more money in the long run for tickets that way. One day tickets on KTTW don't expire because the ticket hasn't been started.

Exactly correct Kenny, but just as a note, any upgrade of a pass to a pass of greater value must be done IN PERSON at one of the Guest Relations locations. This ticket cant be mailed away and applied to an AP by mail or via phone. It is a DARN good excuse for another Disney trip though!!!! Belle

Is that true??? That is great news! I was under the impression we'd just be out the cost of the 1-day tickets. The card isn't activated by using it for your room key or the dining plan?

That is correct. The ticket part of the KTTW Card is only activated when you swipe it through the turnstyle at the entrance to any park. If you dont swipe it there, it never activates. Also another option is to retain the one day's admission for a furutre trip, which is also fine! Belle

I worried about the same thing. They even had to swipe our room key to get a wrist band for emh in ak. But when I tried the cards the next year they worked

Mousesavers just posted free dining coming very soon to keep watching the site:sohappy:

hmmmmm....tempting. I'm looking at going 10/1-10/14 - I love the fact that if you're vacation starts before 10/3 you can get free dining the whole time :slurp:

Hey I have a question about this i'm hoping some of the resident experts here may know.. The free dining is great news! As luck would have it, i'm there 9/27 - 10/03! We booked using the 40% code that i received in the mail. My travel agent said that if free dining came out we could look into which is cheaper and switch. Does anyone know would the cost be cheaper using the free dining, or staying with our 40% off? Specifics: 2 adults, 6 nights 7 days at ASMU w/park hoppers (no water park & more option) and we're on the basic dining plan. Thanks!

40% off the room rate at ASMU is a discount of about $35 a night, right? And the DDP for 2 adults is about $80 a night. Re-book for free DDP.

Even 40% off at a mod would be less savings than getting the DDP free. For 2 adults staying at the Grand Floridian, 40% off the room would be better than free dining. But suppose you were at GF with 2 adults and 2 kids, age 10 or over. Then free DDP is worth about $160 a day, the same as 40% off a $400 per night room.
