There's a picture of Dreamfinder in there?

So I didn’t take the time to read thru the hundreds of pages…but, is figment getting a reboot or nah?

and when I say reboot, I know the rumors at one point a decade ago was dream finder returning and it being restored to an updated version of the og version of journey into your imagination.

So is this ultimately still happening, or is it just basically still in the hopes and dreams stage still lol ?

Nothing is happening until the suits put a budget behind a plan they can agree on.

The plan should be this -

Build on the legacy that was the Original ‘Journey Into Imagination’ Attraction.
Start there, and expand on what that masterpiece set into motion.
It still resonates today.

Recreate sets and some scenes that have a similar spirit to the Original, but ‘enhanced’ with today’s tech.
And I am not talking about just screens.
Enough already.

NO idiotic Pixar IP - it is NOT NEEDED or wanted!
This Pavilion already has its own self created IP that fit like a glove, is dearly missed, and needs to be reintroduced.
( that is the Original non-annoying Figment and his creator, the Dreamfinder )

No half measures.
Go big, or go home.
Healthy budget, NO cutbacks or inter-Company politics meddling.

Unique ride system.
WOW your Guests like you used to and CAN DO with the right team in place.
Make it happen.

Allow Tony Baxter to advise on this project and have a ACTIVE role in making this redo a reality.
Stop blocking his influence - he WANTS to see this Attraction become the imaginative delight it USED to be.
He is ready and has been waiting !

Most importantly - make it IMAGINATIVE and inspiring.
There is so much potential here, it could become a absolutely astounding experience.

No excuses.
Get to it.

The dragon has spoken.

That's a larger reference than the first film right?
It's certainly a bit more visible. My prediction: this is leading up to Figment having a much larger role in Inside Out 3. I have no idea how they'd shoehorn him in, but if I could put money on it, I would. And that will be the nail in the coffin for JII. The movie will crush it at the box office, just like its predecessor, and the suits will have everything they need to justify Inside Out going into Imagination. And Figment will be there, but I doubt it will be a retelling of 1.0. Might even be why everything's gone hush on the Rogen movie - they've pivoted, and are going to work pieces of that into IO3. This is all just spitballing btw, nothing is based on any actual rumors I've heard, just gut feel.

Seems like a weird thing to do...You could still keep the M&G going if the ride is down...
Agreed, though at the same time, I kinda wonder if it might have something to do with the amount of staffing they have there. On top of it, with the ride down, the staff is probably relegated to break rooms or something depending on what made the ride go down, and thus, they couldn’t have a cast member perform Figment at the time. But still, def weird

I doubt it… my understanding is the cameo got added in there simply due to Drew Taylor asking the director if Figment would be in there as a cameo again and he was in essence added in at the last minute. There really wasn’t any thought put into it.

Also, would be bizarre to just randomly make a theme park ride character, a main character in an otherwise totally unrelated movie, both from a storytelling/plot point and character development point.. it’s the equivalent of putting a Hatbox Ghost cameo in Monsters, Inc. and then all the sudden making him a main character in a sequel to the film all the sudden.. to suddenly talk about how ghosts should be free to materialize and spook people.. when Monsters, Inc. within universe already told its story with the relationship with Boo and how because of the impact of it, they switched to doing comedy and laughs. Just no real logic or purpose to it.

Inside Out (literally) focuses on emotions & Riley’s development dealing with them. Figment has no real relation to Riley’s development or within the context of Riley’s emotions or development in dealing with them. He was made ‘specifically’ for the Journey Into Imagination ride’s premise of Dreamfinder demonstrating how creativity & sparks of inspiration/ideas work when combined aswell as representing our childlike sense of whimsy, desire, curiosity & development of our own creative abilities. It’d make no sense. Especially considering she already had her ‘own’ imaginary friend, Bing Bong, who basically just played pretend rocket to the moon games via a wagon with her who ends up sacrificing himself at the end of the first movie to the abyss of forgotten memories from her very early childhood. That considered, it’d be completely redundant and random, plus, it wouldn’t even be a celebration of the creative process or in dealing with creative mediums like art, literature, theatre, science, technology, or film. So he’d effectively be made pointless & contradictory to the development of Inside Out’s story, let alone the context & mission statement of the ‘Journey Into Imagination’ pavilion, if Figment were made a main character or put in a crossover with a Inside Out theme. I sincerely hope most creative directors or producers would immediately recognize/realize this.

Truth be told, you’d hope they would’ve learned what the issue was with the 02-current redo and why it didn’t make the same impact on guests as the original. The core of the issue, much like any idea to crossover with Inside Out, is that the Journey Into Imagination pavilion should be focused on its own original theme & mission statement. Not a needlessly shoehorned in one from an unrelated film IP (in this case, being the Honey, I Shrunk IP for the ‘99 & ‘02-current redos). Nothing was wrong with the way the 83-98 original ride was. It was beloved & popular as-is. Retheming it to an unrelated film IP is the issue. Simply shoehorning Figment into every scene of the flawed Honey I Shrunk themed ride, to be a “major role”, to “supposedly” try to make a right with fans of the original ride, by having Figment demonstrate how imagination should be used/utilized (not effectively, misunderstanding what the entire point & appeal of Figment and his purpose/ OG ride was) in contrast to what we already know is a flawed film IP themed concept & don’t need the reminder, doesn’t fix the problem.
The solution is to put Inside Out, if anything into its own piece of real-estate in a place that thematically fits rather than forcefully replace or try to cross it over with another one that not only was already popular & beloved as-is, but was never intended to utilize a film IP to begin with. And to restore Journey Into Imagination back to its former 83-98 glory with the tech & spfx enhancements/updates it should’ve received back in late ‘98/99 rather than what it ended up getting. The goal should be to add more capacity & variety, not replace or possibly lessen the amount that was there before.

How they still haven’t figured this out is beyond me.. but it is what it is I guess.
