Nah ..How about all of the original first floor area and large part of 2nd floor :)
That should give you about a 15 minute ride .:sohappy:
No point. There is surprisingly little usable space up there. Once you`ve put holes in the floor. Not to mention the engineering nightmare. Leave upstairs for what it was supposed to be.

Though, what won't happen but would be interesting concept, is to open up the 2nd floor (remove the floor and make it a very tall open space) to create larger than life show scenes as part of the ride. That's a lot of vertical space to create something pretty unique if done. You could then turn the theater into the new Imageworks.

That'd also be an engineering nightmare I'm sure, but think about what you could put in such a large space.

Would be a shame to loose the opportunity to have a Fig and DF movie in the Magic Eye theater, but making the ride even longer definitely makes up for it.

Thats really the way the original ride was basically, I mean a second floor wasnt removed etc, but when you think about it the original ride had those huge gigantic rooms and tons of space, until they went in there gutted and altered all of that into nothing smaller spaces. I will forever ask what were they thinking. :brick:

Strangely, both v2 and v3 use the same physical ride space as the original (where the track remains), or rather the current ride still inhabits the original space. V2 and 3 both cut costs by (amongst many things) having the majority of show scenes on one side of the track only, and having the ride vehicle face it. Next time you stop look behind the ride vehicle; the walls and ceiling are painted black but there is so much wasted space.

It's true. What made the original so good was how well it was themed and how whimsical the whole area was. The new versions almost completely lacked any imagination whatsoever.

They sure did. The ride (JIYI v.2) basically started out by insulting you first hand.

I don't know how I missed that version. We visited in 2000 and 2001 and I didn't see it either time (or I just don't remember it).

Though, it may have been closed again by 2001 when we went.

It might have been closed when you went. The attraction would undoubtetly break down from time to time or you just got lucky.

True. You won't believe how large the rooms are on the ride if you could just see it with the lights on. They are HUGE!!

On a side note, the original turntable used in the first scene on the original ride is still in tact. The current large post-show actually resides right on top of the old area and all of the mechanisms, wheels and gears are still down there.

Isnt that something, mindboggling really, I mean couldnt they have saved alot of money (not to mention heartache and hatred) by leaving everything as it was but just freshing up some scenes and new paint or changing some scenes etc etc?

I did look behind me alot last week when riding it and couldnt believe all the closed in space and black walls. So they basically just rebuilt walls and moved them around to close it all in more?
Remember the big room that was a like a winter wonderland sort of with white trees and a carousel etc and figment was painting in a foggy pond? Where in the heck is that area now? Im always trying to figure stuff like that out when riding through but with the crazy layout its in now I cant ever figure out where was what in the original.

Well, I wouldn`t say intact. A lot of the mechanism is there, the drive system and all, but it`s all beyond repair. As has been said before, the `turntable` was a myth; it was a circular rotating framework of walls of showscenes. Most of this was removed in 1999.

Go back a page or two and take a close look at the layout plans

Actually, notice what his exact words are, and think about the refurb that resulted in this...

"Well, there's nothing much going on UPSTAIRS imagination-wise"

Ring a bell? Know anything where there WAS imagination upstairs until this refurb? Kind of ironic, isn't it?

That area is where you now stop to do the Eye Test with Figment.

ah ok thanks, wow. And now theres nothing in there but that eye screen which is lame, follow the bouncing figment....people just sit there dumbfounded like youve got to be kidding. If only they saw what was in there before. It still seems like that room use to be twice the current size. I guess it was since all the walls close in behind you now.
