Episode III: Return of the Imageworks?

The theather isn't really THAT big what they could probably add 2 more show scenes by using that space and they would probably be HUGE show scenes.

They really need to fasttrack this imagination project.

Actually, if you look at aerial photos of the building, when you include the pre-show and post-show areas, plus the theater (though I do realize there's a VIP lounge mixed in there, too) it's easily 1/3 the size of the entire main building.

There's also the 3D glasses washing facility back there to contend with...

They could conceivably solve some of their transition problems between the current ride building and expanding into the theater by relocating the maintenance shop area into part of the theater building, and using the current shop area as part of the transition space. Otherwise, it's a pretty narrow area to get between the two buildings.

Purely conjecture on my part, but who knows how long we will need glasses.

Perhaps WDI has been playing around with some new 3D technology that doesn't require the use of glasses.

I think that's what they've been planning to do with Star Tours 2. So yeah, that could be the solution to the CLeaning Facility problem.

I don't see that going anywhere anytime soon, it serves the entire resort.

It's a simple machine that can be moved anywhere on property really. It's just behind Imagination because that was the first area to have a 3D film on property and now all of the glasses are shipped there to be cleaned.

another prime example of quality control. you would think they would hire someone that has at least been to EPCOT to write the thing! this must be the same person that describes the iconic spaceship earth as a giant golfball on the main page of that site.

I know this isn't much but was visiting epcot yesterday went to imagination and i seem CM's using the elevator for going to and from the second floor. Nice to see the elevator in action again.

^ I got to experience Virginia Tech's CAVE. It was absolutely AMAZING!!!! It was definitely one of my college highlights!!!

Disney first looked into using CAVE years ago, mostly on Great Movie Ride.

I have no idea why they never used it....oh, wait....probably money like every other upgrade.

For my time, I was in a kid's forrest. I got to climb a tree, beat a bee hime and got chased into a lake by bees, and woke up a sleeping bear. I must have spent an hour just roaming around this world.

I think this could make an awesome attraction!

Sorry for the thread drift...

The CAVE technology requires way too much processing power to do the simplest of tasks. I doubt Disney is going to invest in a supercomputer or the special glasses that are required to view the effects correctly. It's not as simple as a few polarized filters on washable glasses.

As for the removal of HISTA, if they would put in a full simulation theater with digital 3-D, it would be the next step. People need to have the full immersion to have the effect work. Any distractions, whether they be the black frame of the screen or the scratches on the film, and the effect is hindered. It's one of the reasons that Spiderman at IOA is so popular...the effects are exciting and the effects work, for the most park. Get rid of the black theater and add some real theming.
