Jeez.

$35 for "kids" is borderline criminal. $55 for a 10 year old IS criminal.

I find it very odd that posters are annoyed at guests sharing meals here, or just ordering dessert or whatever. It's possible, and call me crazy if you must, but maybe if Disney had more reasonable price points, they would have less sharing of apps as meals, or people eating at Casey's then at BoG for dessert and a drink. Which, by the way, is perfectly fine in 99.9% of situations. If all guests order is Dessert then that table turns over faster, so it balances out. Anyhoo....

Good business or criminal. It is amazing how often those two things are a matter of opinion.

At the end of the day, no one is being forced to eat there.

It's almost like you don't have to go...

Kids like cheeseburgers...
I expect the child's menu will include a "croque royale" which will consist of a freshly ground filet patty, flame broiled and served sizzling on a toasted brioche bun with the diner's choice of fine aged cheddar, imported Jarlsberg, or buttery Muenster cheese. This will be accompanied by "frites d'empire," thick-sliced fresh potatoes, deep fried in healthy vegetable oil until golden brown and crisp, then smothered in a pan reduction of butter, beef jus and a hearty burgundy.

I'm so glad I got a reservation for dinner on my last visit. There's nothing on this menu that appeals to me enough to spend $55/person, and that's just with two adults in the party. I can't imagine my parents ever taking us for the price of 6 people, especially considering that I was of the adult menu age by the time my youngest sister was born. As someone who never finishes an adult entree, having to pay for an appetizer I neither need nor want is just a waste of money.

If the problem of people just ordering dessert was that big, I wish they would've just enforced a rule of one entree per person or something to that effect rather than going this route. Yet another example of people scamming the system and ruining things for everyone else.

I'm not annoyed at anyone. But I can sure see why Disney would make this move to maximize their profit from this location. Folks were not exactly abusing the system, cuz Disney allowed people to order just a dessert so that they could come in, see the place, and meet the beast. But it wasn't a model that was working very well, and Disney needed to adjust.

We've dined at BOG three times over 5 years, all for lunch. Every time, the experience diminished in quality over the prior visit, to the point where we didn't even attempt an ADR there for our upcoming trip (even though they were available for breakfast, lunch and dinner for both of our MK days, at our 180+-day mark), because our last visit left such a [figurative] bad taste in our mouths. Now that it costs even more for dinner (with fewer entree options), I can't imagine a reason we'd ever want to return to BOG for any meal -- at least, not when we can have dinner at restaurants that appeal to us more (e.g., Boma, 'Ohana, Tiffins, Brown Derby) for less money.

That being said, the out-of-pocket pricing of the meal is practically a bargain in comparison with other signature or 2-DDP-credit experiences (far less than the cost of the prix fixe dinner at CRT, for example, and without those tarted-up taffeta-clad 20-somethings badgering you with their insufferable helium voices as you try to enjoy your meal ;););)), I totally "get" why WDW is making these changes, and I'm sure folks will be clamoring to get a dinner reservation. I sincerely hope that the reviews end up being spectacular, and that the food lives up to the price point, such that I might be attempted to sheepishly reverse my opinion and lift my grudge against BOG for our last couple of crappy lunches...

Always fun to defend WDWs extortionist pricing with ye olde “don’t go, more room for me” argument.
If Disney was selling life saving medicine, had a strangle hold on the food or gas supply, or anything deemed necessary for life I would agree with you whole heatedly.

But they aren't. They sell vacations and they are hardly the only ones selling those. Calling what they charge extortion is no different than calling Bugatti extortionists for selling the Veyron for a mill and a half.

As you know, I am prone to hyperbole. Clearly Disney can't extort their guests, as it's a completely optional spend. They could maybe, think about, consider for a second, providing a semi-reasonable value to their guests though, I think.

Dole floats are still under $6. That is pretty reasonable.:)

It seems like this new change has made BOG Breakfast reservations impossible to get. I was trying to book BOG Breakfast for Aug 22 today, as my window opened at 6 am. It seems like there no reservations for BOG for that entire week. Any opinions/thoughts?

Fro me, BOG breakfast reservations have always been harder to get than dinner reservations.

If one of the issues includes people making dinner reservations to just have dessert (which I am totally okay with...good on them for snagging a reservation), then make it mandatory that you pony up $50 when booking. That fee goes towards your meal and is non-refundable.

But, don't force the fixed price menu.

Looks like BOG is off our list now. Too many allergens floating around in the kitchen for me to be sure there will be no cross contamination. Was always a problem with this place before, but even more-so now.

That as well as the reimbursement rate that they get from the Disney Dining Plan. Take a look at exactly how many cast members you see on stage, multiply by about 4 or 5 for the back of the house operation, and then the square footage of the interior ...it's not an inexpensive place to run and maintain. Food service has to maintain its margins or something suffers such as food quality.

demand meant all the tables are booked period so a table ordering dessert is a TON of cash left on the table not to mention the family who wants to eat dinner cant...
