Enchanted Tiki Room closing for month long refurbishment

The MK is indeed beginning to get some much needed love in sporadic areas. It's a shame its too late for Space Mountain.

This refurb will replace items that have broken or been damaged since the overhaul.
What do you mean it's too late for Space Mountain?

They really missed a great opportunity during the last big refurb to make this attraction great, like its DL little sister is. I know that much more was originally planned for that refurb but was cut and the recession was blamed for it. Now that we are in a recovery, economically, there's no excuse. Hopefully, we will be beyond recovery and back to real growth when they get around to Space Mountain again. When they do (fingers crossed), we'll get smooth tracks, onboard audio, and cool new visual effects... Of anything refurb that I hope for, it's Space Mountain I want to see get upgraded the most! (If the Tiki gods let it)

Excuse my ignorance on this (yes, there are things Disney I don't know), but please explain "fountain". Thanks!

Would be nice if they'd do regular maintenance to avoid having 1 month+ shutdowns like this... at least they're doing something though.

So has this refurb been outright cancelled?

According to this website, the planned rehab has fallen off the calendar and is no longer listed as being closed July 31 - August 28.

It's good news to see legit rehabs popping up in WDW again, after a decade+ of rare rehabs. But it's troubling to see things get scheduled and then pulled a week or two beforehand; it makes it seem as though no one is really in charge or the planning committee is dysfunctional.

A few other random thoughts on the Tiki Room.

They allow food and drink, and especially Dole Whips, to be brought in and enjoyed inside Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland. No good reason why they can't do the same at WDW, if there really is such a thing as "One Disney". The Dole snack bar is literally right on the pre-show patio of the Disneyland Tiki Room, and the CM's encourage you to bring in your refreshments into the show.

The Enchanted Fountain is a clever little part of the show at Disneyland, as well as Tokyo Disneyland's Tiki Room. It appears during the song from the chorus girls on the Birdmobile, and then makes a big appearance during the grand finale' at the end of the show. Not sure why it was canned at WDW?

Sorry if already mentioned, but maybe they pushed it back because Jungle Cruise will also be down, and they don't want two of the main Adventureland attractions down at the same time.

No thank you.

Everything you listed. Space Mountain was the last total up of a major refurb planned purely by TDO. It was so bad that Burbank have deemed in future for all projects of that (original) scope to be run and green lit by them. But so far as the ticked refurb boxes go, Space Mountain is complete.

Blame Phil Holmes and Meg Crofton.

Well, you mean complete for now until the next refurb cycle which could be a couple of years from now, a few years from now, or several years now. Hopefully, no later than that. Is this doable, or do we have to a number of years that's more than than the count of fingers on two hands?
