Drinking in WDW

Yeah, I agree with most posters that it's not the drinking that's the problems it's the drinkers. I've seen grups of you people go ten at a time for a drink around the world, they look like they're having a blast but they don't bother anyone, just some laughing and carrying on and occasionally breaking out into song but then you get the one guy who has had too much and none of the rest of his group are as drunk and he looks like he's annoying everyone (including his family and friends). It's that type of display (not to mention public vomiting, __________________ and ____________ (fill in bodily functions here) that ruins everything.

I enjoy having a few drinks but I have never caused a scene or bothered anyone else. My sister, neice and I will be going in August and we have already had conversations about each of us getting a time to drink as long as the other one stays sober. We can each have a beer or two at the same time but with an 8 year old to care for, we won't both be doing any amount of heavy drinking together.

You can drink and have fun and be responsible. It''s the few that don't that make a bad name for the rest of us.

It seems like everyone is in concensus that drinking is fine and its all about drinking in moderation. As long as the cm's notice any out of control behavior and deal with it appropriatly and swiftly everything should be fine. Whereever there is alcohol you know there will be a few bad apples.

It's a family fun park - No to drinking. Not within the parks, some people do not know their limits and we don't need that in front of children.

I don't think anyone needs a drink that bad that they can't wait until they get maybe to a restaurant or your hotel outside of the parks.

I also like to have a drink but let's keep it out of the parks.

Thanks for listening to my two cents.

I understand what you're saying and I generally only drink in restaurants, like Rose and Crown for example and occasionally at my hotel. I don't actually see too many people consuming alcohol other than these areas, I assume that's where most of us like to enjoy sampling the variety of spirits.

I don't think you'll find people wandering around the parks drinking, other than at the food and wine festival. It's the people who go overboard IN the restaurant or hotel that get out of hand and in all my time at WDW I can only think of two times I witnessed that.

I see nothing wrong with it as others have said as long as the person knows their limits and is not obnoxiously drunk. I am not a beer person but when we are there and it is 95 degrees a beer tastes pretty darn good! I also like having a few drinks as we stroll the world too but I know my limit. ;)

So you are going to punish the many for the mistakes of a few. I find a lot of unruly children in the parks that really bother me can we keep all the kids out of epcot. There are more kids having temper tantrums than drunks. And you can not kick the kids out, at least you can toss out those who are drunk.

I can't afford to get too drunk @ Disney!!:lol::lookaroun

I will admit, I've reached the age where I know that the crummy next day is not worth the fun I think I'm having the night before. One drink at dinner (have to have at least one with a glowing ice cube!), then maybe a beer after I get back to the room is enough for me

Welcome to the world. (I was going to say America but this type of behavior really isn't specific to anywhere in particular.) We all get restrictions placed on us by the actions of others. That's just the way civilization works. Sorry.

 I wish you could kick those kids out. Spoiled little brats.

I totally agree!
I am a beer fan and in 95 degrees, beer tastes 10 times better. :slurp:
Sometimes even two or three!

Like everyone else said, drinking is fine at Disney, but don't overdo it. Food and wine certainly can be interesting! Sometimes it's actually quite funny, I had a good laugh once watching a couple guys in mexico put one of those giant sombreros on the ground, throw their wallets in it and start dancing in circles around it. :ROFLOL:But once during Illuminations (still food and wine) we saw some really drunk women start fighting, literally, on the ground, which scared my younger brother half to death. You just need to know your limits.

WDW just needs to do a better job of giving belligerant people the boot!

And I wouldn't isolate kids from seeing alcohol or the effects of it. The more kids understand about why NOT to do something, the less likely they are to replicate it.

Seeing a drunk making a scene is a teachable moment for a parent, and probably one that will have a much more lasting effect than any speech you could give.

Just an opinion....

Drinking in WDW...responsibly...can be an enhancement to the whole experience, especially if one is interested in the whole package. Food, architecture, culture, etc. especially in Epcot.

Drinking is a part of the international theme...food and beverage go hand in hand.

Actually, I'm glad this thread is here because I was going to start one because I'll be there in July.

I've had great experiences with the whole Epcot drinking around WS thing.

I'm looking for more suggestions in order to try some imports that are sold there that I might have overlooked.

I've done the wine tasting in both France and Italy. ( 3 flights) I had no idea they did this and only tried it once like 3 years ago. I speak a little Italian and when the CMs in Italy explained the tasting to me they seemed to enjoy my interest and perhaps hearing their native language.

I liked the plum wine in Japan. It my be too sweet for some.

Actually, I want to go over the AKLodge and try some African wine and perhaps a beer.

Any suggestion for specialites that are imported. I never tried Morocco or Norway as far as drinks.

I know that it's not an alcoholic drink, but the Moroccan coffee will give you just as much of a buzz as some of the drinks I've tried out there. Apparently they don't understand the term "decaf" there:)

Morocco has a great beer - can't remember what it's called. I'm a beer lover, and every pavillion has at least one outstanding beer.

Canada has their share. UK has a few, but British (including Scotish and Irish) micro-brews don't really travel well in general, so not a very good representation, but still quite a good selection, including cider.

In France I prefer the wines/champagnes. I think they have Kronenburg, IIRC, but you can get that most anywhere. Japan exports some excellent dry beers, and there are a few there. The US has Sam Adams, which is not one of my favorites, but is representative of the new US style.

In italy I prefer the wine, but I think they have beer as well - perhaps Perroni. Germany used to have only Beck's, but I think they have a bit of variety, now.

The Outpost has some interesting beers. Microbrews, I think, but I think they're made in the US. Pretty good, anyway. China I think has chinese beer, and of course Norway has Carlsberg, and Mexico Corona. But these are quite common in the US. In Mexico, I usually opt for the Margaritas, which are pretty good.

Thanks so much for the suggestions....Keep 'em coming.

Mexico - probably has Corona, Dos Equis, Negro Modello, not sure if they have any that aren't commonly found in the U.S. If they do that's what I'm looking to try.

Norway - I'll just try Carlsburg because even though you can get it here I've never tried it. How is their wine?

China - I tried Tsing Tao beer and I now I order it wherever they have it. I like it. Not sure if they have wine.

Germany - I drank a beer and can't remember what it was. How's the wine?

Italy - I love Peroni. To me, it's almost like a slightly better Heineken. And of course, the 3 tiny flight glass wine tasting. Can't go wrong with wine here.

American Adventure - only if thirsty. I'm not on a quest to get plastered...only to try new things:lookaroun So if it's mostly American beers that we can get throughout the U.S. I'm going to keep walking to the next pavillion.

Japan - plum wine and I tried sake. I was told by a fantastic Japanese bartender (Not at the parks) that warmed sake is warm because it is the grit or the last pressings of the sake and it is done so it is palatable. (Not sure if this is true) He said chilled sake is better quality.

Also, we met fanatastic Texans and a group from New Orleans and we all had a few by then and got giddy and kept talking. We enjoyed the conversation so much that the guys hung out and started buying rounds of everything in Japan. After awhile we said good-bye and knew we had to move to the next pavillion...somehow.

Thankfully, there is food everywhere and I never broke my rule again. ONE DRINK ONLY IN EACH PAVILLION:lookaroun Time and space...and food helps.

Morocco - Dying to try some unique drinks here. Thanks for the beer suggestion.

France - wine flight tastings. Do they have French beer here?

UK - Liked Bass and Harp, but we can get that here. My Disney Honey likes Guinness so that's taken care of. Wine? Anything else here?

Canada - Never tried Canadian beer so I'll do that. I had wine at Le Cellier and it was awesome.

Ok...I think that's all I got. Are we missing anything cool drink wise that I didn't know about? I know the vets and experts on the site know their stuff and we're missing something.
