Done they were. Lied they did.

And I don't watch GoT, but it sounds like Benioff and Weiss is not ending that series really well. šŸ˜Ÿ

Taken on their own, the final seasons of GoT are highly entertaining.

They're noticeably different than the seasons based off the books, which are known for twists and shocking moments. Latter seasons feel like a more predictable, generic fantasy series. I'm not surprised fans of the books are disappointed.

Based on that I'd speculate that they'll make Star Wars movies that are fun, but a bit safe. Satisfying in the way Force Awakens was, but not ground breaking.

I'm surprised this forum allows this kind of toxic behaviour - encouraging the act of running people off because they don't share an opinion.
I think it was worded incorrectly....

There is little ā€œrunning offā€...but there is a lot of debate and that can be a good thing. I have my opinion changed a lot. I just donā€™t give much on facts, numbers and pretty clear motivations šŸ˜‰

There rushed it...thatā€™s the problem. Itā€™s not the story...itā€™s the pacing and shortcuts. HBO didnā€™t want to pay anymore.

Theyā€™ll regret that by this time next year.

Hereā€™s an article today about it:

Ya think?

A lot of Hollywood ā€œinsidersā€ have mentioned cost for 5+ years...thatā€™s usually from the horses mouth.

I can see it the other way too...10 years is along time to tell one story.

Besides...they were hired to replace the Last Johnson anyway...šŸ˜‰

From the article, HBO did want the show to continue, but the show runners felt they didn't need more episodes than were ultimately made. HBO supported their creative decision.

So that was...

HBO: lets keep
Going

D&D: great! We need 30 more shows and $400 million dollars

HBO: how about $150 and 13?

Truth might be in the middle here?

I actually donā€™t think it is in the middle in this case. I think Benioff and Weiss just ran out of juice. Thereā€™s no way HBO want this to end, especially like this. It stinks quite frankly.

Hire Straczynski to oversee and ideate. Create a storyline(s) that resonates and has defined limits and ending. Bring in Stackpole to help with elements and writing.

If you don't do this, no other changes will matter.

I love that idea

Young padawan

J. Michael Straczynski. Created Babylon 5....youā€™ll see it referenced in print as B5...

It was maybe the quintessential sci fi series of the 90ā€™s renaissance that got us to today.

Star Trek next generation and DS9 were wonderfully written and acted shows....but they were episodic. B5 was the first series that follow a central storyline... pre thought out and interwoven.

It was revolutionary. And I just read an article a couple weeks back that said there would be no game of thrones without B5.

That is what Star Wars needs. Itā€™s not like Disney isnā€™t scoring billions of dollars of box office on comic book movies built that way šŸ˜‰

Didn't Straczynski also write Marvel comic books for a while?

Heard of it but have never seen it. Thanks for explaining. Now I can agree :)
