Chris Walas should have retained some rights to his design creation known as Gizmo from the film ‘Gremlins’.

So, so many copycat works over the years.
That clip above just one of many.

"Today the BBC and Disney Branded Television - two giants of entertainment - have come together to transform Doctor Who into a global franchise for UK audiences and the rest of the world.

Under a shared creative vision, they will deliver this quintessentially British show to future generations on an unprecedented scale with Disney+ as the exclusive home for new seasons of Doctor Who outside the UK and Ireland. The announcement – which was made this morning by the next Doctor Who, Ncuti Gatwa, during an appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan - begins a new collaboration between BBC and Disney Branded Television.

Both partners have aligned under returning showrunner Russell T Davies' bold vision, who takes control of the TARDIS in 2023. He was responsible for Doctor Who's revival in 2005 and is credited with propelling the show into one of TV's biggest hits.

The new episodes will premiere on the BBC and Disney+ beginning in late 2023 for fans all over the world. The show will be produced in Wales by Bad Wolf with BBC Studios Productions."

Just watched it. It reminded me why I stopped watching during the Jodie Whitaker years. Though, as the episode said, I'm "male-presenting" and "just wont understand".

I agree. Was a lifelong fan since the Tom Baker days but sadly no more. The woke twaddle asking an alien for its preferred pronouns was unbelievable. I thought Catherine Tate overacted terribly and David Tennant wasn't much better

At least most of the old episodes are on BBC iplayer here in the uk

A friend of mine absolutely raved about the new special. Since I just signed back up, I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but we don't always agree on what makes good Who. My friend hated the Chibnall years and I was unexpectedly quite fond of the 13th Doctor era. But really the only Doctors I didn't care for were Hartnell (he's tough to love, though Bradley is charming when channeling him), Davison (always found him cold) and Smith. Though there were plenty of episodes even with Doctors I loved where it was a struggle to get through, so... I guess I'll find out when i watch later this week!

As a long time Whovian, I enjoyed the special. I can't wait to see the other two and where it goes after.

Many fans complained and yelled how they wanted Davies back as writer and showrunner, well he's back and still same complaints....

I enjoyed it. Of course, David Tennant was my first Doctor so I was excited for that. And Catherine Tate too. Haven't watched in the past few years because five companions and saying 'fam' all the time was too much. The only part that was unnecessary was when the Doctor meet the gremlin.

Jodie Whittaker and Peter Capaldi are great actors but had horrible scripts and supporting actors to deal with.

Yep, liked the new special quite a bit... for the record, my first Doctor was Tom Baker, so always enjoyed some degree of grumpiness in the Doctor, but appreciate the vibe each new actor brings to the role. Tennant was always a standout; so fun to have him back for another brief run. Glad to have Davies back, too.

I always hated that era of Catherine Tate companion episodes. I found her annoying. Why couldn't they get Rose Tyler out of that parallel dimension and bring her back? What's Billie Piper been doing lately?

She may still show up. With two more specials there is plenty of story which could include her.

Also there is suppose to be some big reunion of all the Doctors (those still alive) like they've had in past specials. So the expectation is a lot of the companions (again those still alive) would show up too.

The Meap episode reminds me of the Sarah Jane Adventures geared towards younger kids. It is good to see the gang back. I can do without Catherine Tate's over acting but that is how the character was. Nice Meap puppetry

I love the new TARDIS set - I hope it sticks around for a while. And the Doctor-Donna was one of my all time favorite combinations ever. So I loved the last two minutes of it.

The rest, not so much. I mean, better than RTD's previous obsession with flatulence jokes, I suppose, but I was not clamoring for his return. But all this is just filler until we get to the new Doctor, so I'm in wait and see mode.
