It's paywalled, but the t$;dr is...

  • D+ will stream the new season around the world except for Ireland and UK, where the BBC will stream it.
  • Disney will have creative input, but BBC peeps will have final creative decision.
  • Disney is pumping real money into this, more than the BBC ever could. [Hopefully this means no more cringey SFX and crazily-cut fight scenes like from the Sea Devil 'special' -- which was absolutely abominable.]
  • BBC will retain all IP rights, so, Disney will not be spinning off content or park attractions (without BBC's approval).
No mention of accessibility of previous episodes. I'm guessing that's locked down by BritBox contract.

New episodes are not until Nov '23.

I doubt anyone can beat Tom Baker.

Edit: to make it more Disney relevant… one of the coolest things I remember from visiting Epcot in the 80s was how excited my sister and I were to find and buy Jelly Babies in the UK pavilion
Peter Davison was my Doctor growing up. I had a crush on Nyssa and Tegan.

I loved him as Tristan and The Last Detective!

Recently read his daughter married the 11th Dr Who, Matt Smith.
Actually his daughter Georgia Moffett (that’s Davidson’s real last name) married David Tennant. Even funnier is she played “the Doctor’s daughter” on an episode where she is created from his DNA - even though she is in real life the daughter of the Doctor!

Ooh thanks for correcting!

DH and I were just recently talking about Karen Gillan being in Guardians and that she was on Dr Who with Matt Smith, and we looked up if either has gotten married. That’s how we stumbled on Peter Davidson (who we love!) and my brain scrambled Lol.

I fell off at Jodi Whitakers early start, not for anything wrong, but likely just with peak TV and streaming. Got into Doctor who half-way into the first season of New-Who.

I even ran into Jenna Coleman and Peter Capaldi in full garb at the Christ the Redeemer Statue... I know that sounds like the most random thing ever but every tourist is gawking at the statue and I'm like oh my god, why does that tourist trap Chinese Theatre style guy look so much like the newly casted doctor. I was the only person there who knew who they were.

Really looking forward to getting back into this!
