Do you think that Disney world will reclose its gates due to the rising number of COVID cases in Florida and around the country?

They aren't improving. Positive percentage has been the same for a few weeks, cases aren't going down and deaths keep rising. It doesn't matter if they are spread out over a few days, its still the same amount. Measures need to be put in place to get numbers down. Mandatory masks and hefty fines for people who don't comply should be in place.

Exactly. The numbers (other than deaths) aren't necessarily getting worse, but they are not improving, and with the level Florida is at that is horrible horrible news.

You can bet the latest HHN news and the death rate increasing for the state of Florida/ California's closures have hurt things that much more.

Disagree, some numbers and metrics are improving, see above (tampa dashboard), ED CLI visits have dropped statewide and I have shared many other cases where numbers are improving. Also it is possible the actual current deaths per day are actually improving, declining but still to early to say that for sure.

That still doesn’t answer the question.

Same as any other fine:
1-Debt collection agency
2-Additional late fees
3-Jail time eventually
4-The ability to do community service to pay off the fine.

But of note, whether a fine for jaywalking, or speeding, or public nudity, or not wearing a mask...those are all fines that are attributable to a choice that person made to not follow the rules.

Do are police department have the resources and time for that? A lot of people speed and don’t get fined same goes for jaywalking.

And while we can definitely have a conversation about whether these should be the consequences, these are and have been the consequences that most of us have never objected to before. There's no debate about the legality/constitutionality of imposing fines and having penalties for not paying them. This isn't a serious objection to mask mandates.

Do police department have the resources and time to drive around looking for people withou a mask on. Even before all the budget cuts they didn’t have the time.

Perhaps we should, I don't know, fund other agencies to respond to minor infractions/public health issues?

That's a topic for another forum though.

We're not getting rid of traffic fines just because police have more to do than enforce them, so how about we be consistent and also impose mask fines?

So, because there are many more "non-serious" law breaking citizens out here, you're saying that an additional penalty in an attempt to get those rule breakers to be more safe is not warranted???

There is also a hefty fine for parking in a handicapped spot...but I would also argue that it's not the best use a police squad's time to actively patrol for it because there are always many other things that could easily take precedent in their day. So according to your logic, we simply shouldn't pursue ticketing those who illegally park in those spots?

Cops aren’t everywhere. People get away with speeding and not wearing a seatbelt all the time. It’s easy to pull up your mask when you see a cop just like you slow down when you see a cop car.
IDK where you live but here in LA cops are EVERYWHERE. Dont even think about making that right turn on red.
