Do you think that Disney world will reclose its gates due to the rising number of COVID cases in Florida and around the country?

Sadly, one projection set suggests that would be optimistic.

Unless Mask usage becomes nearly universal.

It may be that Florida will Florida and my Dad is too much of an optimist in that regard. But I at least hope NYC keeps up the good work.

I put a lot of faith in my dad’s take on everything Covid. He’s been right up to this point, and he said Florida numbers will continue rising and sustaining through October (at the earliest) unless lockdowns happen. He predicted October for indoor dining in NYC back in April, and he’s still on track for that thus far.
not doubting your dad ,who I imagine is a great guy, but that does explain a lot. :) not snark just having fun. I mean all these are opinions.

I have heard/figured that tough descisions are going to be made by Tuesday. Not happening Tuesday, but decided on as things fluidly change day to day. Anyone think it is that closer?

need more context, the three w's would help

Well those are answered I figured by the title of the thread, difficult I know since it things frequently fear into attacks or off topic. If rumors of closing down by some point in August again are true, these big decisions have to have discussions to prep the possiblity with communication soon. It could all be scuttle, I was just asking to see if anyone heard anything similar.

It makes sense. Most school boards in the state of Florida are announcing things this week in terms of delaying the school year or deciding to do virtual only. If this occurs, than you can be sure Disney will have little choice.

Osceola Cty, adjacent to WDW, has already announced school will be in session that fall, starting in 8/24 (a 2 week delay). For those not comfortable going in-person, online is also an option.

They will not be closing down in August, maybe reduced hours if anything, due to lack of visitors. If anything I think the raise capacity limits for APs. Also local APs will be able to go as the blackout date is lifted.

I am aware of that because I have some little ones in the school system. In those two weeks we will have a somewhat better idea, but I speak of the bigger decisions this week. There is further delay talk if it gets worse this week or outright making online and daycare an option. If nothing else, the teachers definitely need that time because they have had a lot piled up on them with the hybrid model they are speaking of where a classroom is streamed.

The State board of pediatritions for Florida has said they do not recocmend school begin until the positivity rate results are at a 3-5 percent. They have currently been at 14 percent for reference.

Anything is fair game. We live in a world where the parks shut down for months and in some cases still are. The phase they are in right now with fixed costs elsewhere not making money, even with AP allowances increased would not be enough. On average, they don't spend large revenue in the park on food and merch You can't really decrease operating hours much more. The majority of your full time employees need to keep 32 hours a week. The best they can do, my prediction would be to lift the park hopping block, presuming things remain the same or get better.
If schools delay or close, they are not going to stay open to lose more money and look terrible or be terrible if things raise fast with guests or staff.

Orange county is at 9% and trending down

It was Seminole county who delayed one week first. Either way, I would expect some communication by Tuesday to be present based on what I am hearing. It was spoken as if the meeting did not happen yet.
