Disney(World) vs. Disney(land)?

Disney posts positive growth, profits and growth in ALL sectors so that obviously means that WDW sucks and is about to close....there is point were your supposedly realistic approach makes you no longer realistic but delusional to the fact.
Numbers can be massaged ala Enron. Not saying there is illegality going on, but a rise in gross $$$ does not mean all aspects of the company added to that increase.

Everyone does that, including Disney. It's called a rivalry for a reason. TWDC is not beneath similar tactics. And if I'm Universal and can draw some (literally) card-carrying DVC members to my parks for even one day, they're going to do it. And Disney would do the same....

When has Hilton ever offered special rates to Hyatt Gold Passport members? When has Hyatt ever offered Hilton Rewards members special offers? Never

Universal would never do that since they know how underhanded and sleazy it is

But Iger has never done anything right I means look at The Avengers that was a bomb...but yeah the head of Comcast, you know the business with the worst customer service in the world, knows how to run a park and subsequent companies

Our resident cynics claimed both the Pixar and the Marvel purchases would be Iger's undoing. I even believe a certain spirit claimed The Avengers would underperform in a John Carter sort of way.

Know nothings.

People who complain about TDO, you have to understand that Disney World doesn't just have to budget for 2 theme parks. They have to budget for an empire.

It all depends on your perspective.

I wonder who in Social Media at WDW is going to be going through this thread. Tommy? Manic Gary? Blondie (sorry, she's married and not likely into bi-curious fanbois!)?

Since this could be viewed as torture, I say they get my old buddy Steven 'Spooky' Miller to do it.

all I know is, I added someone else to my ignore list...this thread is a LOT nicer now

But Disney never does anything right...everyone in the world knows that right? I assumed so since 10 people online like to claim the majority share in their opinion

I agree with your point up until the end. Mythos is supposed to be the best in part restaurant in the world yet when I ordered their panini I could not alter it at all and it was pretty bad. Sorry but big time restaurants can make changes on their sandwiches. So I don't think attacking Le Cellier which I have never had a bad dining experience with a place that cannot do what even a normal mom and pop place can do is a valid complaint

I don't know what happened with your panini problem and you have my sympathies. As a sandwich lover, I know how it hurts when you don't get it the way you want it.

But I have dined there literally 25-30 times (maybe more) and never had a subpar meal. They are always superb, usually excellent service and they don't have price increases twice or three times a year like Disney does.

My point was simply that I doubt food prices at UNI are going to spike. I can guarantee you Disney will raise prices again on Food and Beverage before the year is out. And some will make excuses for how Disney can't make money on $30-plus lunch steaks at EPCOT that don't even come with a salad (unless you wanna fork over another $8).

That new ignore feature is awesome isn't it?

Maybe this was missed but, what is this about new show scenes and an added 5 minutes possibly coming to Jungle cruise when it gets its refurb??? Anything to that or more hopeful wishing?

When have credit card companies ever offered lower rates to rival cardholders? Or car companies advertising high trade-in values to those owning alternative vehicles. Or.....

If Disney wants to avoid these so-called sleazy tactics, upgrade their own product to keep people from being tempted.

The income for said budgets should be made accordingly, it's simple really... An empire should make profits for empire-sized expansions. There is no excuse for how stale things have become.

No one ever claimed that. I think most people would agree that TDC are doing pretty much everything right. We could also mention that tiny resort across the waters (TDR, I believe?) but then again that's a whole different animal isn't it? :)

What kind of Ritz can you get a room for less than $200 a night...you can't even get a room at a Hyatt Regency which is a convention resort for less than $200 a night

I have stayed at the Ritz Grande Lakes for $199 a night a few summers back (would have to check the year ... maybe five now). People were paying almost that for a motel room at Port Orleans.

And I regularly stay at great 4-star resorts in O-Town for less than the discounted rates at Disney's moderate and value resorts. It can be done. Really!

I'm sure you don't either. Please name a company that does something that underhanded.

4 multi million dollar companies? Oh lord I don't know if I should laugh or cry. Do you see Hilton go after Hyatt Gold Passport members? Nope, do you see Hyatt go after Hilton Reward members? Nope, REAL multi million dollar businesses don't do that.

But I forgot you still think this report is bad...I can't argue with a person who thinks this report is bad when it shows growth and success in EVERY sector. Then again you also assume a couple people online means that all DVC members are dissatisfied which is wrong

A touch defensive, aren't we? ;)

No it does not. It just shows that you brought more money in. It's not an indicator in and of itself of strength.

Umm, profits increased too. Essentially the only thing not showing great growth is WDW and they are getting to that now. They had to fix the infrastructure and create enough accomadations for the future crowds.

Not one of those examples are comparable, they are not actively going to rivals select users and saying while using their products you get a special products from us.

I gotta say, you hit the nail on the head with the last few points. Especially on the Avengers. The sucess of that movie no doubt covers a lot of the problems facing the company. And I too thought it was ironic that the opening date of Fantasyland was released today, in fear of what the quarter results might do to the stocks tomorrow. Very clever business move, and an underhanded notion that TDO knows something is up and they are losing steam.

Though I don't understand what you mean when you say Iger is going to make a lot of people cry and concede to Uni. If you could clarify what you meant that would be great because I feel that greater competition can only lead to a better product for the consumer of wdw. Unless of course he is complacent with 2nd best, but if that is the case I think his days are numbered with the company.

I was saying that if you took Iger at face value today, you could easily make an argument that nothing is coming to WDW for years ... DL too.

I know that isn't true. But many folks believe that people like Iger never lie, let alone to media and Wall Street analysts.

I know Disney has finally realized it is in a war. They figured this out only years too late, but at least they understand that Cindy's Pleasure Palace is under siege.

Just because you do this does not make it legal. Heh.
