Disney to buy Marvel Entertainment

Disney cannot take anything from Uni.

The ball is in Uni's court.

I was reading your location and it gave me an idea. What if Disney started having Marvel characters appear all over the property but only for a few seconds.

Can you imagine somebody saying, "hey there is the green goblin on SSE!!!" and by the time everyone turns to see, he is gone.

:D

It's a two-way street. I bet Disney would love to have full control of their new characters. But they don't. And anything Disney does to promote Spider-man could drive people to Uni where they can see him.

There's a give and take on both sides here.

Eh, not if Disney puts its name in front of Spiderman whenever it promotes it. Uni is not nearly in the position of strength Disney is. I see your point. I just dont think its as much a two way street as you might think....but I've been wrong before! ;)

I know we all know the difference between Marvel and DC, but do you think the average punter does? There has been lots of talk about Universal having Marvel in the park promotes Disney, but i know my sister (22) has little to no clue that Batman and Superman are part of the same world, or that Spiderman and the Fantasitc Four are.

If Spiderman and Captain America were just films (and not comics) made by the same company would it be a huge issue if Spiderman was in WDW and Captain America in USF?

What my overall question is, assuming there was no character overlap, would it be possible to have Marvel in both resorts?

If Universal is really going to get rid of Marvel, then I'm protesting and boycotting Disney! They can't take away a great land from Uni! First we lose Merlin Woods, now possibly Marvel?! BULLCRAP! :fork:

EDIT: I know Uni said they're keeping it, but if that happens, yeah.

I hope this is sarcastic because the way it sounds if the land goes it's Universal's choice not Disney's fault. Anyway, isn't a great land a bit much. In my opinion it's the great land at Universal, I do enjoy Ripsaw Falls, The Mummy, and Dueling Dragons as well, I just don't think their lands are anything to right home about. That's why I am hoping they don't drop the ball with Harry Potter I need another reason to use my annual pass.

985 posts ... seriously ... what are you guys/gals talking about?

And what does it possibly have to do with WDW?

Absolutely nothing. Read Variety. Read the NY Times. Read the O-Sentinel.

And finally, can I borrow some of the time you all have ... cause you ain't getting it back at the end!

I guess so...but now it seems that MSHI won't be able to expand, from what I hear...

So I guess an Ironman flying coaster is out of the question....:(

The problem with Uni is they are never consistent and there customer service is less then desirable, not to mention I do NOT like like staying at there supposed resorts. Disney is a class act and this will be interesting to see how this all pans out in the long run.

Song of the South, Mr.Toad, and figment say hello

Since he can't touch the big charecters, Iger has already said they are looking into even the most obscure charecters. Citing Iron Man as an example of a non-famous Superhero striking a chord with audiences.

Iron Man is a household name super hero. That's the whole point of a household name... to be popular. Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, ect. are all Avengers (i think), so my guess is they would use them in any situation first.

Disney hadn't acquired all of these external resources back before 92'. All they had to work with was classic Disney or no Disney at all.

Does Disney get to use Spiderman villains and not Spiderman or is it every hero presented at IoA that's off the table including the villains?

Actually, I was gonna be harsher:drevil:.

Someone on LP.com mentioned the thread here ballooning ... and it largely being the same things repeated, many incorrect things stated as fact and another __________________ contest between Disney vs. Uni fans.

I prefer more intelligent debate/discussion. On LP.com the thread is exactly where it belongs ... on the Disney Business Board because this is NOT WDW News ... and it's WDW Rumor only so much as fanbois making things up as they go.

The other place has maybe 150 posts ... and they're intelligent and (mostly) articulate points about the deal and what it could possibly mean for the WDC as a whole. There are a couple of more (one started by myself) much smaller threads.

I think so many of the larger points are likely being missed here in blather about Hulk meet and greets at EPCOT.

The scary thing is this thread will likely double in size at least.

Anyway, I have a latte waiting at Starbucks (and more importantly a friend) so I'll tell y'all to have fun bantering!:rolleyes::cool:

I think it is just those used at Uni. The other 4,990 characters are probably available for Disney to use.

Then ignore the thread? If you wade through the Uni bashing/repeated posts there is actually a discusion going on.

Although this thread does now probably belong in the General Discussion thread, but it was a news item to begin with.

Seriously 74??? You stoop down this low??? SO, people on WDWMagic aren't intelligent?? You bash the mods, you bash the members here, you praise other websites on this one... I am amazed you are still allowed to post here...

I usually enjoy your posts, but, these little attacks on the intelligence of the members here compared to other sites goes over board... So, stop posting here, get lost, get out, and don't come back if you hate it here so much...
