Disney to buy Marvel Entertainment

Disney has already started a character training program for them.

Drew...please tell me you're serious!:D

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

I love my life. Honestly I may transfer to Entertainment just for the chance at being a superhero.

Ummmm...what? So what that Six Flags has DC characters as their coaster names? Honestly...this argument makes no sense.

As are Marvel's. Some of these characters have been around since WWII. Longer than the vast majority of Disney characters.

No you don't see Indy walking around DHS, but I would sure love that. You already see Darth Vader there everyday, which is cool as well.

I can't wait for the day I can meet Iron Man and Captain America at DHS.

Let's see. I want a lot that Universal has. The Spider-Man ride blows anything Disney has ever done out of the water theme park wise. Reveng of the Mummy is amazing. MIB is better than TSMM and Buzz Lightyear.

Shall I go on?

Very good article that has cleared up a lot of points.

Looks like we may have Iron Man.

And Disney/Marvel are also a team now.

"Weird junk"? Really? Okay, you have obviously never experienced ANY of Marvel's products. Maybe you should enlighten yourself before calling others ignorant.
MIB and Spiderman are overrated MIB is just another shoot em up which i thought they could have done much more than that. Spiderman is a 3d ride with effects and if you think its better than indiana jones, , Phillarmagic, HM, or TOT etc, you have no sense of reality. Wake up man and show some respect for Disney and its history. Universal as made horrible decisions also Fear Factor, Universal 360, Twister, Jimmy Neutron etc. are all horrible attractions as well as Shrek 4D which replaced the great Alfred Hitchcock attraction.

I'll disagree... And this is coming from someone who is not a fan of Universal.. Spiderman and MIB are not overrated by any stretch of the imagination.. But, hey, we can all have our opinions...

The wierd thing is WDW'74 is admitting on LP that he has no knowledge of the details yet Leemac, a REAL WDI employee said this yesterday:

Leemac said:
NBC-Universal will get notification shortly that the Marvel characters will no longer be available for use in Universal parks worldwide. The buyout of Marvel will trigger a change of control clause that will enable Disney to walk away from agreement.

But dont you think they could have done much more than just a shoot em up for MIB. I like Spiderman im just saying they might want to step it up when Universal Studios Hollywood gets the Transformers ride because i heard its going to blow Spiderman out of the water.

But just the walkaround charcaters right??? Not the attractions, not the characters already in use in these attractions???? That would open up Wolverine for 1...

This has also been noted elsewhere on the net.... Thanks for posting!!!

Just because they started a training program doesn't mean they will have them in parks anytime soon. I think it will take some time before we see them, but who knows????

Disney could have done much better with Buzz, Stitch, Monsters Inc.... Nature of the business... My feelings are, if the ride is enjoyable and re-ridable, then they succeeded in making a great attraction... Spider-man, i ride that attraction over and over... did once, for 3 hours straight, thanks to their version of fast pass.... MIB, i can ride 2 or 3 times in a day, providing I go to Universal...

I have free tickets to the parks waiting for me.. I may have to give it a try this year... Especially to get one last look at Marvel Island lol...

I have plenty of respect for Disney. I work for Disney. And I own a great love for Disney history. I've read many a biography of Walt, and have many books about the formation of the parks.

Spider-Man is easily the best ride on Earth in my opinion. It's theming, story, technology, and characters out it head and shoulders above anything else out there, and the fact that it is heralded as the best themed attraction out there by many, if not all, websites, I believe most people would agree with me. I believe I'm set firmly in reality.

As for MIB, it's a ride that most people would have said only Disney could have made. An amazing queue, terrific story, and a wonderfully fun ride filled with AAs and great set pieces, something Disney hasn't done in Florida in a long, long time.

Why?

Harry Potter is going to blow everything away when it opens.

Well, if there's a training program, that means the characters can't be far behind. I mean within a year or two?

MIB is WAY MORE than a shooter game. Although Buzz is cartoony, MIB is more realistic and offers way more detail. And Spiderman is a very cool ride with rewards and achievments out of the ying yang. They both deserve respect. I wouldn't consider Jimmy or Shrek a failure.

Don't bash Universal. They do deserve respect, and if you are going to trash them at least give reliable info. Someone may read your post and think Universal is garbage. Universal, as Disney does, offers great entertainment and great attractions. Spiderman, if anything, is something to see in your lifetime at least once.

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]The Walt Disney Co. announced Monday that it was buying Marvel Entertainment Inc. in a deal worth more than $4 billion. The acquisition gives Disney rights to a wide variety of comic book action characters such as Spider-Man, X-Men and Iron Man. The deal will not affect Universal Studios Inc., which has an entire area dedicated to Marvel characters in Islands of Adventure. Universal's long-standing agreement with Marvel gives it exclusive U.S. rights east of the Mississippi River to certain characters for use in theme park attractions. The agreement stands for as long as Universal continues to operate the Marvel Super Hero Island area, which features rides such as The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk Coaster. I never said Spiderman or MIB were bad rides im just saying they get way too much credit sometimes. Have you ridden the attractions before Jimmy, and Shrek then you know that the attractions they replaced were far superior. No disrespect im just stating my opninon.
