Disney to buy Marvel Entertainment

When WDW starts using the Marvel characters (in 10+ years or so) they should either have a land in DHS or have their own park. Disney knows not to mix them into existing lands (thank goodness!)

Even though I don't think you'll see marvel in tomorrowland, I think some of them fit... But, yes, DHS would be the preferred place...

More like hell :fork::fork::fork:

Marvelizing a MK would be Six Flags like ... I can tell we have a lot of comic loving fanbois here, but I'd suggest they study Disney history and theme park development and get why something like that would be so wrong ... much like sticking a giant cartoon hat in the middle of the Studios.

If Walt were alive today and saw a fully realized Iron Man greeting guests in Tomorrowland you know what he would say? He would say "holy ________! this is awsome!"

Theme park development be damned. There is a new Disney in town and his name is Stan "The Man" Lee!

Thank you for saying that.:D

It goes against everything Walt had in mind for a MK Park.

Walt didn't even want another MK park

and besides Fantastic Four, Marvel 2099, Quasar, Drax, Silver Surfer, and Iron Man go with MK like peas in a pod. Especially Florida's already comic booky Tomorrowland.

It's absurd that the same people that think random cartoon tie-ins for one time hit films are A-Ok in the disney parks (not to mention all the really barebone mediocre rides like mission:space are acceptable) but something that is a good fit is not ok.

Toy Story in Tomorrowland....good
Fantastic Four....bad
monsters inc in Tomorrowland....good
Silver Surfur....bad
Donald Duck in Mexico...good

No offense Evan but how can we possibly know that?? Walt died 40 years ago he may have loved the idea and maybe hated it but Walt was a businessman and if it was a huge addition that was done right he may have loved it.We just don't know the answer.

Now get back to studying :ROFLOL:

Some people are having trouble seeing Marvel characters as Disney characters, and that's to be expected. If Disney bought the Smurfs, would the Smurfs suddenly become "Disney" and would people be expected suddenly to see them as "Disney"? And if so, should they be put into Fantasyland because now they're "Disney"?

It's the same thing with Marvel. These characters aren't "Disney" even if Disney owns them. Fanboy fervor doesn't change that, either. Pixar is a complicated deal because Disney's always been the distributor of the Pixar films, and so there has been an association since Toy Story.

I don't particularly think Star Wars or Indiana Jones needs to be in a MK-style park. But I would say this: Star Wars and IJ have demonstrated popular appeal on a greater scale than what Marvel comic book characters (and movies) have demonstrated. The Marvel movies seem to have more popular (read: non-geek) appeal than the comics, and even the movies seem to be hit-or-miss.

In other words, for every Spiderman success there's a Fantastic Four failure.

Neither Star Wars nor Indiana Jones nor Pixar have ever had a movie bomb.

Food for thought.

F4 only has 2 movies and they did pretty well. Not well if you compare them to Iron Man, Spider Man, and X Mens.

Btw, FL is exclusive for only Disney classics. Pixar isn't even aloud in!

Unless they rename the land.

Conundrum is right folks. TL at MK is a mess and a marvel overlay makes sense. If WDW didn't have a Future World at Epcot, I wouldn't think this. But a Marvel-Land at the MK could be incredible. Unlike what we have now.

I don't think you'll ever see one of the original DL or MK lands completely stripped of its theme that way. It might have comic book characters at some point (personally I doubt it, but who knows?), but I think you'll always have a Tomorrowland in those parks, at least in name.

Why don't you and Con just take a chisel and hack Walt off the partners statue?

TWDC buys Marvel = cool. Marvel characters in the park(s), in their place = cool.

Marvel characters taking over the parks and/or any existing lands = ...well, there are preschool toys present, so I just can't say.

Careful who you hang around, Goof, I'm sure there's one of the 7000+ who would fit real nicely into Jungle Cruise.

Bunch a zealots.

A Marvel overlay of TL would be a terrible idea, mostly because 98% of the marvel comics take place today and not in the future.

If you want to take a Marvel story line from the future and redo SGE thats fine but not more than one ride.

You could take the X-men Apocolypse story and Redo SGE. Guest would enter Apocolypse's lazarith chamber and help Cable and Bishop defeat him.
