Another nail in the coffin for WDW. Not only do superheroes not belong in Disney parks, $4B could have been used 482301 other ways to fix the mess the parks are currently in.

True. Or maybe the money Disney will be getting because of this acquisition will help out even better.

Looks like we've got a brand new batch of Doom and Gloomers!

:ROFLOL:

Yea and funny, you, me, Con, 74, or the others who have been accused of being D&G aren't part of it this time...

By the way, the more I look at my avatar, the more I think I had a premonition!!! lol.

Agreed. Even though they won't be able to distribute some of the movies for several years, the deal makes sense on a lot of levels (licensing, Disney XD, comics, video games, etc.).

I kind of doubt it, General Electric, NBC, and Universal seem to be a pretty happy family right now.

GE owns NBC and Universal...Time Warner is going to buy NBC/Universal...like I said, count on it. They have $7 billion in cash on the books...there is no way they are not going to make a huge purchase, and GE is ripe for the picking and would be silly not to sell NBC/Universal.

I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be Universal who is looking to unload Marvel Superhero Island. Think about it... Universal now will have to pay royalties to Disney for use of the characters, so why would Disney want to change anything? I do however suspect that Universal will start heavily pursuing a deal with Warner Bros (i.e. DC Comics) to transform Marvel Superhero Island into DC Superhero Island. I would imagine a quick transformation of Hulk into Superman wouldn't be too hard. Turning Spider-Man into Batman would also make a lot of sense. Not sure what Storm Force would become. Maybe The Flash?

Anyway, although I can see Marvel popping up at DHS or MAYBE Tomorrowland, I think it would be a better jumping off point for a future Disney park, perhaps that 5th gate we all want so badly...

I'm sure the whole comic store at DTD is all but a done deal. It would make perfect sense...

Marvel is a completly different company than disney's past two character acquistions, pixar and the muppets. where pixar/muppets and mickey can go together seemlessly in every park or movie, marvel cannot.

I do wish that disney has worked on the muppets a little more than they have been.

For someone who doesn't like comic books or even read one (and don't start, if I never read one how can I not like it), I think a M&M marriage is wierd (Marvel and the Mouse). While I enjoyed the Iron Man movie and the first two Spiderman's...I don't think Disney and Marvel work together....It might work together profit wise but I don't think that there will be any corporate synergy.
