Neither the weatherman or Chappie hold MBAs from Ivy League schools. (Iger was a communications major and Chapek's MBA is from a state school.)

You are absolutely correct. I don't know why I thought Iger had an MBA from Princeton. Must have dreamt it. Quell nightmare! *shudders*

Yes they really will.

Another vote for why this should be a new build and not a replacement.

The Mouse LPS will be a very good ride. Maybe even excellent. But it shouldn't be at the expense of anything else, let alone the GMR.

Is there some explanation as to why they are doing this as a replacement and not a separate attraction? Is GMR losing popularity? Is gutting the attraction and building an entirely new one in the same spot saving them money somehow?

I am guessing the star wars trackless ride will be more intense and have a lot of thrills. If it didn't people would be disappointed. With that the height requirement is probably higher than too.
I'd be surprised if Alcatraz was as intense as say Dinosaur. I'm envisaging a Spiderman level of intensity. Or slightly below.

And of course they may offer a less intense profile. There's enough load docks ;)

Reading a summary somewhere with all the info would be nice rather than having to sift through 21 pages of threads. As far as I can tell:
1. GMR is to close
2. As to whether the facade (Chinese Theatre) is taken down or not is unclear.
3. Something about it being trackless.

What else?

Edit: So I had to sift through the pages. Now on page 21 of 26:

4. The ride is about Mickey Mouse.

GMR is scoring badly in guest surveys. Though no one seemed to have realised its maybe because the body of the ride has never had a proper update in 27 years.

Yes, this saves money. No new building. No new infrastructure. No exploding bank. No 27 year old ride system. And a fraction of the amount of cast members needed.

If poor guest surveys actually matter, how come we still have Stitch? :p

So as we find out in the preshow, Mickey's late to his own gala premiere (lazy sight gag opportunity: Goofy wearing a Mickey Mouse watch), and we have to travel through Hollywood to get him there on time. On the way, we'll run into some of Mickey's best friends featuring some uninspired Marc-Davis-esque gags, the final scene being a montage of Mickey's greatest moments. Exit through the gift shop featuring Mouse stuff.

So basically RNRC meets Superstar Limo meets Philharmagic meets Main Street Cinema meets Great Movie Ride.

4 and a half minute ride time. Family friendly. An "E" by modern WDI standards.

Like, ok, but someone needs to explain to management that the park needs more rides. Which has been the case since, oh, 1989.

I was afraid of that. Still no excuse!

Keep GMR, update it properly, then make this Mickey ride in another location. How great would that be? More attractions, better reason to charge what they are charging for tickets. That's too much to ask, I guess.
