I have been watching that same France movie for 35 years, and I still go and see it each trip... I still think it represents the beauty of France, and while I believe it should be updated, I think the travelogue film in the France pavilion is really necessary... I am hoping the Ratatouille ride will be built in the expansion area between France and Morocco actually expanding the presence of France...and better for crowd control as well.

I once asked Martin about the pieces of land above Small World and Beast's Castle regarding future expansion in another topic. I marked a bunch of areas in red on an overhead map of the park and he went over what can be used-

The land left of the retention pond has parking areas and some buildings. The land to the right is apparently swamp land. And using either would require working around Magic Kingdom Dr, either by a tunnel or overhead bridge (the Utilidors would need to be taken into account as well). Unless rerouting the road itself is possible (which I wouldn't assume).

Neither are designated expansion plots apparently. I guess they could find a way to use the land if they wanted, but I doubt they would.

A permit was filed a couple years ago to build a new storm water retention pond on the land behind Small World, but for some reason this was never built.

Because it's looking like the BatB ride in Epcot is loosing to Rat.
I'm almost positive that you can't answer this (protecting sources and all, and that's okay :) ), but would it be a clone of the Paris attraction? And would it take up the entire expansion space? I would like to see another country in the WS someday, and I'm still a little peeved that there is all of that space behind the Sommerhus that isn't being used.

What's wrong with rat ride? I thought it got pretty good reviews from those who have seen it. Isn't it considered an E ticket? Besides what if they went with BatB and the dark ride was about on par with LM:confused::eek:o_O

I'll take the ride we know is pretty good.

I feel that they would probably clone the upcoming ride set to open in Tokyo. Which very well could be a vastly superior attraction to Ratatouille. But the Rat would be less of a thematic break for World Showcase and the France pavilion, imho. So my vote is for Rat.

Yes. If we must have IP, at least this one fits. It's actually set in Paris and I feel the film makes a pointed statement on the beauty of Paris.

Regarding B&TB vs R for the France spot, from what I know/ believe (a matter of preference) the B&TB ride is much, much better, however, the R ride is a much, much, better fit. It does (as Martin has said) seem that Rat is winning, however, as suggested, if the movie does very well, I wouldn't count out B&TB just yet.

What are the chances they'd be willing to spend the money to do a BatB ride that isn't a clone? In terms of theme and fit, I'd rather have Ratatouille in France than Beauty and the Beast. But if the film is incredibly popular (which I suspect it might be), any chance they'd do a "realistic" version of the ride that's based on the new film? If it shared the same technology and layout as the BatB ride being built overseas, but all the decoration and theming was based on the 2017 film and not the 1991 film, I might be more accepting of it in the France pavilion. But I also wouldn't be surprised if Disney wanted this to be a "cheap project" that's simply a direct clone of one of the two rides that doesn't require any new work.
