People I have been talking to, say that when they got it in Jan it expired Jan 31 2005. We are going in Feb (25) so I am going to order it Feb 1st. I am planning on waiting until getting to WDW to get the AP (with DVC discounts this is great!!!!) I have reports from people who have ordered it over the phone that you don't need the AP until the time you use it.

When did they change the price for Annual Passholders to $50?

I just purchased my DDE a couple of months ago and it was $70 for AP holders.

It's brand new - just announced in the last few days. It's now open to Florida residents and ALL AP holders, regardless of residence. Which is why it's quite a hot topic around here right now. :)

I see... I guess that's good news for non-Florida AP holders and not-so-good news for me.

$70 was for getting it the first time, renewal was $60 which I paid in August, but for whatever reason they extended it through the end of October. I won't complain for 2 free months :D

Hey Tramp, After two days of trying to get through to this office I Am starting to get a bit frustrated. How long did you have to wait on hold before you mnaged to get through? I am approaching two hours combined hold time!!!! Didnt Disney realize how popular this was going to be?? Belle

I started dialing just before 9am and got right through.

It's so unlike Disney to make it difficult to spend money.

If Disney knew in August that they would (or might) offer this deal to AP holders, they may have given you the 2 free months as a trade-off, so you wouldn't wind up saying "How come everyone else got it for 50 dollars but *I* had to pay 60?". They weren't about to give it to you for 50 dollars last August, in case they DIDN'T opt to open up the DDE to AP'ers, you know what I mean?

Anyway, I was on hold this morning for about 15 minutes when the call dropped suddenly due to heavy volume (I think it was a phone company thing, not a Disney thing). I called again, waited about 30 mins, and did it reasonably quick.

Another possible plus (though I may have gotten confused and screwed something up): The agent that assisted me told me the $50 fee covered cards for me and one other person. At first I signed up my GF and I. Then I realized "Well, my GF is only going to go to WDW with me, and one card holder can cover a bill for 10. Therefore both of us don't each need a card." So I asked the agent if it mattered who the other person was, and she said No. I signed up my sister, who's going at the end of January, so she and her family can get the deal (she has an AP, too). When I get the confirmation email (which, BTW, I was told might take up to 3 business days due to high volume; you know this is popular if you need 3 days to get an EMAIL  ), I'll forward it to her and she, theoretically, is good to go.

The second person must live at the same address as you...at least that’s what was printed on the benefits page the sent me.

To all of those having a hard time getting through: It isn't anything new.

When I purchased mine several months ago I tried on several occasions to get through and I couldn't. I ended up leaving a message and someone from DDE called back.

I don't think the program has ever been all that popular. Perhaps the new accessibility to all AP holders and the lower cost will make it more so.

After I buy the AP at the park, I was told to call DDE to order the DDE card and they would FAX or EMAIL a letter to my hotel or condo or, even, to 'guest relations' of the park of my choice. The letter is as good as the card and is effective upon purchase. (If you go this route, make sure you have a FAX number BEFORE you call to order the DDE card).

You don't need to wait until you buy the AP at the park to subscribe to DDE. We are DVC members and I ordered our DVC annual passes today, so all we will have before we visit WDW in about 6 weeks is the vouchers for the passes - they won't be activated until we get there. I then called the number for DDE and was able to order the card, even though our passes have not yet been activated. Since the processing time is 4-6 weeks, I was told that I will receive an e-mail in a few days which can be used if the card doesn't arrive in time. I hope this helps!

Ordered my card on 1-7-5. I told the very nice young lady that I would be leaving for WDW on the following day and she was very quick to send me an e-mail conformation letter and the most current participating restaurant list. I gave this letter to the cast member that was serving us and never had a problem. In two days I am at over $40 worth of discounts. The Disney Dinning Experience is definitely worth it! :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

They really do a great job of getting the confirmation e-mails out. I had mine within minutes of hanging up the phone.

They also send the cards pretty quickly. I think mine only took about a week.

so... I just got mine. I was on hold for about 5 minutes, and the girl I spoke to emailed me a confirmation letter to send out until my permanent card arrived. They were also able to make a card for Miss MKT

Ditto! Called about 12:30 pm EST, Was on hold for 10 minutes maybe.

Told them I had an annual pass holder. They only asked for my my name and address, so I'm assuming they have access to the AP database to confirm you really are a passholder. Told them I was heading to WDW the next day and they had me the confirmation email within an hour.

I used it last night... everything went smoothly, dinner for 2 including drinks, entrees, desserts, and 2 appetizers at the Yachtsman Steakhouse came out to about $70.. not too bad when you also factor in the free valet
