Well there have been rumors in the last few years that every show save American Idol has been on the chopping block...As the park whose theme is the most squarely based off of entertainment, this makes tons of sense.

When you say every show, does that include things like Indy Epic Stunt Spectacular?

Yes, that was a rumor within the last year. I think the only shows that I haven't heard rumors about their closure were American Idol or Muppet*Vision
Beauty and the Beast - Rumored to be replaced by a Tangled Show
Voyage of the Little Mermaid - Rumored to be replaced by a Phineas and Ferb Show
Fantasmic - Rumored to be replaced with a new show
Lights Motors Action - Rumored to be replaced with a Pixar Place/Carsland expansion
Indiana Jones - Rumored to be replaced down the road with additional expansion

Also forgot Sounds Dangerous-Rumored to be replaced with the (indoor and expanded) Jedi Training Academy. For VOTLM, I thought I heard that Princess and the Frog: The Musical was on the short list to come in and replace this attraction. While P&F do belong in animation courtyard, I'd rather see that crew have their own 3d show.

Well folks, They've ignored this park for how many years? Its based on Pop Culture, you have to either update it to stay current or it becomes stale. OR not have it based on pop culture - ala DCA and classic Hollywood.

There have been changes to Streetmosphere recently. I know studioscentral.com had an article or two about it.

DHS needs to keep that old vintage Hollywood vibe alive. Streetmosphere acts need to stay. The Park will be a whole lot emptier if DIsney ditches them.
When DHS lost the production aspects of a working studio, the place really felt like empty shell of its former self. Over the years little additons have helped, but we all know it could do with a larger expansion or complete overlay in some key areas. There is plenty of space to expand, the question is when will it happen.
I would like to think some big changes are coming....

Can't say I'm sad this is going... When I was there last month, holy mother, was it annoying to listen to. I kept thinking hadn't the high school musical fad passed... I know the performers worked hard but the music just sucked.
I've honestly never minded the hat but at the same time I won't be upset if it eventually goes.

It was related to the 100 Years of Magic promotion that began in 2001 to coincide with the 100th Birthday of Walt Disney. It was felt that a new Park Icon was needed for the celebration, as the previous successful promotion also brought a large eyesore to a Park ( see : EPCOT Wand )
The Hat stayed long after the promotion ended...and for some, long past it*s welcome.

If it had been placed in its original planned spot, outside the park entrance, it'd be fine. As it is, it's a senseless thematic intrusion. What does Sorcerer Mickey have to do with Hollywood? Why in the world would there be a giant hat at the end of Hollywood Boulevard? You get all the way to it and it's....a pin shop. The mind, again, reels.
