what was the reasoning the hat was even put there to begin with??

Eisner thought the park needed an "Icon" much in the same as MK has the Castle, Epcot has the geodecisphere, DAK has a tree. He felt it needed an Icon... so instead of making the theatre into one, they did the hat.

Now if the hat was something more than just another (Naughty Word!) pin shop, I'd like it more. Much in the same that the Rapunzel area is just another (Naughty Word!) bathroom, Disney has a history of making something that's really pretty have very little use, or rather builds up a lot of expectations with very little payoff. (Although I think I will like the above mentioned Log Flume ride near Rapunzel. I should put that in a survey.....)

I'll believe the hat is leaving once I see the construction walls go up.

Well it was to be a ferris wheel in the ear components of the hat at the entrance to the park, but the only division of the company that would pay for it was merchandise and wanted it in a central location ... or at least the most logical thing I've heard regarding BAH.

I know a lot of people here at WDW Magic didn't care for the show, but a lot of people of really did and today really proved that. Say what you will, but this show and the previous HSM shows before clearly made an impact on a lot of people, CM's and guests a like. I don't know if you'll ever find another show that the Cast is so clearly passionate about again at WDW, say what you will but today was the definitely the end of an era for entertainment. Say what you will about the shows and whether they fit the theme, or they were loud and noisy, but no where else will you find another show that had as much heart, soul and dedication from it's cast at WDW. Thank you to all of the cast and crew!

Below are some videos from today, I don't know how to embed them, but they're worth a watch.

Just wanted to throw out a rumor from another Disney Board. A CM is claiming the shows were shut down because the floats wireless mics and controls were interfering with the RFID at the parks entrence when they passed by and that's why the show/parades were closed with no replacements. Anyone know if there is truth to this?

Thats awesome that so many people were passionate abt it, however I'm sure they'll find a replacement show where people are also passionate about the new show. Also, I wouldn't say it was "the end of an era for entertainment"....rather the end of a fad. Closing the Beauty and Bast show would be the end of an era

I dont believe so, they were closed because George K wanted them gone. All part of a bigger plan/changes hopefully.

I understand that CTF really needed to go and if anything DCR needed an update or new replacement, but couldn't they have waited on closing these shows until replacements were made? That's really going to leave a gaping whole in terms of entertainment and things to do come the busy summer season.

Could Spectromagic be making its way over to Hollywood Studios? I've heard of parades moving from one resort to another but never between parks within the same resort... I think that would be kinda surreal to see Spectro glide by the BAH...

It isn't going to happen, but I do like the idea of Spectromagic at the Studios.

Wow, I really had no idea so many people liked this show. I thought it was awful, but I grew up loving a different kind of Disney Channel (back when they showed Lizzie McGuire and That's So Raven, which in my opinion were ten times better than today's offerings, but I am biased...)

LOL I thought those shows where awful! For course I was watching the New Mickey Mouse Club in the 90s. Each generation likes their own shows best.

Also I think a lot of the people that liked the show weren't even big fans of the shows and movies that the songs came from, I couldn't tell you where most of them came from. They just enjoyed watching some really talented performers sing and dance their hearts out to some pretty catchy songs.

It's sort of like when Celebrate Tonight closed at PI. A cheesy, unnecessary show, thrown together at the last minute, but there's no question that the DJs, dancers and "party activators" still gave it their all and put a lot of heart into the show. Made all the worse when the replacement is ... nothing.

It's not just you. That show was awful; either in its very short run at Disneyland Resort (TDA couldn't pull it fast enough), or its much longer run at WDW (TDO seemed content to just let it slide for a few years).

That said, I'm sure the CM's performing in it were very talented and they did their best with what they were given.

When a show ends like this, it's not at all unusual for all the CM's who ever worked on the show, plus their friends and family and coworkers and roommates, to come out for the final day and final performance to cheer on and lay to rest the show. Throw in a few bloggers out to document the end for the Internets, and you've got a small but passionate crowd of people with a very strong vibe to say goodbye to it all. Even if the show itself was atrocious.

The crowd was pretty large and passionate from the looks of the video. The show wasn't everyone's cup of tea but it's not really necessary to call it atrocious or a lot of the other bad names it got during it's run. It's great that everyone has their own opinion, but there's no need to put down a show or any attraction so much just because it's not of one's own personal liking. Clearly a lot of people liked the show and disliked it, which is great!
