If they want to do a promotion for TWDC's 100th, I'm not sure what they're going to call it now that they used that. 100 years of business? o_O
I wouldn't put it past Disney marketeers in 2023 to think that the average casual visitor doesn't even remember the 100 Years of Magic promo.

Excellent breakdown!

I went the year the park opened and every year up until 95, and have fond memories of the Backstage Tour.

Many times I got picked to be on the Bee, or part of the crew of the boat in a storm.

And, considering I loved the New Mickey Mouse Club when I was younger, I thought it was awesome to see it during filming (which I did several times).

It's a far cry from what it was...and now I think it need to just be taken out to pasture (the Back Lot tour, not the park)....
All part of the magic of a Studio park. :) You may not have long to wait to get your wish.

Because it's a marketing gimmick that has nothing to do with the theme of Hollywood and the movies besides "Fantasia was a good movie". Also, it and the Epcot wand ushered in this whole era where "magic" became a meaningless buzzword.

any the chinese theater doesn't (to me) scream Disney and movies either... most kids haven't a clue what that even is.

Radio interference is certainly real... But there are real solutions available... Not 'stop the parade'.

Wireless audio typically runs in licensed radio bands. UHF RFID is close to some of the common radio frequencies in use.. But without doing research into the real gear in use... It's only a seat of the pants evaluation... And I call bs on it.

That's like killing a fly with a sledgehammer.

If there were overlap in the radio freqs... There could be issues but I find it extremely unlikely. The range in use for the cards would overwhelm interference from mica hundreds of feet away.

Thanks Wdsearcher on dis who is an entertainment insider also shot it down

EPCOT and AK park icons doesn't need to be about a movie... that's not the theme of those parks

And the icon of the Studios doesn't have to be something from a Disney movie they (heh) pulled out of a hat containing the movies that are part of the Vault program. By the logic that gave us the Sorcerer's Hat, the Epcot icon should be something from Lilo and Stitch and the icon of Animal Kingdom should be Pride Rock.

Just as the Tree of Life is representative of the world of nature, Spaceship Earth is representative of Earth's science ingenuity and culture, The Chinese Theater IS representative of classic Hollywood. It's where the actors put their hands in cement, it's where many of the biggest premieres were held. A giant Sorcerer's hat doesn't belong in the classic Hollywood aesthetic that comprises half the park.

Pride rock? that brings up an interesting thing I've always thought about.. why don't they create a Lion King LAND at Animal Kingdom building Pride Rock and the pridelands...with water features, various animals from the movie throughout, rides/attractions, the festival of the lion king show, etc. etc. rather than dumbatarland

as big of a movie as Lion King is, and how it fits within the animal kingdom like a missing puzzle piece, it seems odd that the FOTLK is the only reference in WDW (except that silly circle of life show thing in EPCOT)

I've never seen a huge building with a guitar or a hotel that dusty with bad working elevators in Hollywood either
But the huge guitar would fit in with California's crazy architecture and the building (interior) represents a Hollywood recording studio. Plus ToT gives the IMPRESSION that it's a haunted hotel in Hollywood. Oh and if you happen to think BAH refers to California crazy architecture, the guitar was meant to be placed in front of a building as a main feature, the BAH has no place on Hollywood Boulevard.
