So to you, this is all about her race and that people don't like her because of it? The way I see it is, yea it started with casting. But it sounds like you think if you didn't like the casting, it's because of a hidden, or not so hidden, agenda. We all know there's people on the Internet who do have that agenda, that's not new. But is that controlling the general public in your mind? Maybe it sways it some, I don't think so, but I don't really know. Call me naive, but most of the average people that don't like her, don't like her for the things she said. Not the color of her skin.
It's how he silences people, by calling them racist. He and others who do it on here are frankly disgusting. It's bullying and name calling and all they do on here is spend time justifying it.

Then they'll go on about how I am crying 'victim' and keep circling around. How about you stop calling people racist every 3 seconds because you don't like their opinion.

Since Snow is in the exact same production wheelhouse - here's our massive bomb range comp.

Cheer for it as you will. It doesn't seem destined for a 200M+ loss, but you never know.

I seem to be really terrible at silencing people given the amount you post.

I don’t think Erasure is a racist.

Where do you find this breakdown, interesting how it breaks it down to theatrical, video, and steaming revenue. I’ve never seen such a detailed breakdown.

Deadline. It's why I'm sort of a fan.

But we only get P&L sheets in the subsequent spring on the big winners or losers. We'll get the P&L for sure of Moana 2, IO2, Wolverine+Deadpool and I think very strongly Mufasa cracked the top ten. We'll talk about those here for sure in a month or two!

Yeah, it’s a family movie based on an animated film generally made for kids. Giving props because the heroine isn’t defined by her relationship or proximity to a man but bemoaning it doesn’t go far enough because it still embraces “heteronormativity” makes this entire thing really tedious. If that’s an organic choice made by the character within the contours of the film, why is “heteronormativity” frames as a negative thing?

Activists are bringing a lot of baggage to this one. “It didn't go far enough!” Hey, good news, many more turkeys like this and there won’t be any Princess films, heteronormative or otherwise
In all fairness that was a particularly weird review. I’ve read several reviews and none of the others were anything like that.

I think it’s also worth pointing out there’s a difference between not liking a casting decision and not liking that person personally.

I hated the decision to cast Bailey as TLM but I don’t have any hard feelings towards her, if she was cast in a new movie tomorrow I’d have no reservations seeing it. I can’t say the same for Zegler, there’s actual animosity there, and thats not from the casting choice but because of her comments and attitude.

The initial controversy was surrounding the casting choice and towards Disney, it was her comments that turned that animosity towards herself though.
Exactly, and that's what I'm saying. Just because you don't like the casting, doesn't make you some racist. That's ridiculous. A lot pf people share your opinion on mermaid and now snow white. Only someone wanting a controversy would think your opinion is hate motivated. But here we are. Trust me, there are people out there that are hate motivated in that way. But I don't see it in you or a lot of other posters here.

There are so many posts in this thread. Were you unhappy with the casting when Rachel Zegler was first announced? Did you see her in something else and think she wasn’t right for the part?

I was banned to the corn field because I believed (and still do) that one casting was gimmicky and I was called a racist.
It was unbelievable.

This can’t be great news for Hollywood. Apple has some great shows.

It kind of feels like streaming is in the early “Amazon” stage, Amazon lost unbelievable amounts of money, for nearly a decade, before it finally became profitable, I remember thinking Bezos was crazy because it made no sense to me at the time but in hindsight it sure does now.

It’ll be curious to see how streaming is doing a decade from now.

The initial attacks on Zegler were based on her race. Obscure comments she had made to the foreign press were dug up and amplified because of her race.

I don’t think you’re naive.
Most of Zegler’s comments that I’ve seen were made at D23 to the companies like Extra or in interviews with traditional English-language publications. Are you confusing her with Mackie by chance?

That’s not right. I disagree that Disney’s motive for that casting was a gimmick but I can see why others would think differently.
yeah… I also view most of these live action remakes as gimmicky.
I was super excited a live action LILO and Stich was coming out. Love the posters, Super Bowl commercial was great and then I saw the trailer.
It’s the exact same story as the cartoon I saw a 100 times with my kids.
I get it.. business gotta make a buck.

I liked the live-action remakes that I saw, especially The Little Mermaid, because they add to the story and flesh out the characters. Others dislike them for the same reason. What I have a hard time wrapping my head around is how passionate people get about any movie.

We are passionate because we are all movie geeks.
We wouldn’t be on this board if we weren’t.
