Ok…. So your cherry picking….

Yes, freshly picked cherries 🍒 from such notorious right-wing sources as NBC News and the Associated Press.

a few people is still not an entire party… not that I even trust what Bondi says

You don't have to listen to Pam Bondi, if you feel she's fabricated these firebombings of Tesla dealerships and facilities. Instead, just listen to Rep. Jasmine Crockett, she's all over this thing.

So…. There are plans for protests outside of Tesla dealers….The constitution says we are allowed to assemble and protest….

Yes, they most certainly are allowed to protest an American car company producing electric cars. If that's what they're against and want to protest; working Americans making and selling American-made EV's.

I'm just as confused as you probably are, but here we are in 2025! 🤣

Does not mean people are going to be destructive to the showrooms…. But this is way outside of the rules here… so I am done

Oh, I see. The showrooms have already been firebombed and vandalized, so that's already happened. Instead, here's a cherry picked 🍒 headline about the newly downgraded opening weekend box office forecast for Rachel Zegler's Snow White.

Now down from $55 Million a week ago, to $50 Million today, per that other notorious right-wing source Variety.

Tesla Wars *and* the Snow White Conflict of 2025, you’re in rare form today.

Looks like this is somewhere between Step 10 to 12 for SW:

Considering fandoms lose their sanity when someone has the "wrong" hair color for a role from a book, I would agree with this, although it certainly can give the appearance that someone is racist in cases like this.
I get it, and agree. But that's why you can't just lump the world as racist.
If they're out there putting Snow Brown into every comment thread they can find? They've taken any doubt away.
Exactly. As I've said it's easy to spot.
You were the third poster to respond in the Snow White thread after Zegler was cast and your post is critical of her choice based on her race.
When a PatF live action film gets announced. If they cast a white actress I'll be first poster to criticize it.
To reiterate - I am not accusing you of being a racist. I am pointing out that the initial reaction to her casting was almost entirely centered on race. That was the spark that ignited everything that followed.
I've said that it was the start and everything stems from that. Is anyone denying that? She doesn't look like the character, there are a great many people who think that. All I'm saying is it comes off as very accusing when you talk about it. That's my issue.

A funny thing I've noticed while watching reviews, is zegler isn't taking the brunt of the criticism. It's Gadot. From what I've seen so far, her acting, singing have been hammered. Her whole performance as a whole has been labeled as terrible in most of the reviews I've seen. Zegler hasn't been the focus of the criticism.

I think we’re well beyond 10 and left wondering how badly it’s going to undershoot. At the projected opening numbers and production budget, it’s not going to come out well.

It’s Thursday was slightly better than Dumbo.

It can still do well in some miracle situation.

I more so meant it cracking 650-675 seems to be likely off the table. International response is always the mystery of course, but that’s not sounding sufficient.

I’ve long thought 400-500 was probable.

That is such a shame and was easily avoidable. Zegler needed to listen to Crash Davis in Bull Durham and say something like…

“I grew up loving the original Snow White, and it’s such an iconic story. In our movie, we’re deeply respectful of that legacy and excited to expand Snow White’s journey, giving audiences a heroine who feels relatable to both longtime fans and a new generation.”

Baseball version of “I take it one bat at a time” , “tip the cap to the pitcher”, etc.

Then don’t engage in politics. Liberals on this site to a large degree dislike/distrust conservatives and vice versa (judging by the conversations on this board) Everyone has a reason for the way they vote, don’t get involved if you are a entertainer or at least use Crash Davis advice when speaking political.

Do this and Snow White is somewhere between Mermaid and Cinderella.

Zegler had every right to say what she said… but she has way more to lose than us idiots online.
You don’t want to become toxic in Hollywood, they are always looking for the scapegoat.

If PatF came out today there would be a firestorm of rage over “race swapping” a “European” princess.

You steadfastly refuse to acknowledge historical context. Making Disney’s ONLY Black princess white is not the same as casting an Hispanic actress as Snow White. I am sure you are familiar with the history of race in the United States. Without delving into too much detail, given the realities of 21st century Hollywood, insisting that the race of characters remains unchanged guarantees that the marginalization of minority groups in media continues.

This is similar to your claims that the reaction to Mackie as Captain America can’t be driven by racial views because he was accepted as Falcon. Yes, historically African-American men have been consigned to secondary sidekick roles. That has been viewed as “their place.” It is when Mackie is elevated to the role of hero - a hero that represents the concept of America - that the racial standards many people still believe in, consciously or unconsciously, are violated and a firestorm erupts.

Different things are different.

This is a really shocking idea. I know the studio heads don’t have the nuts to do it.

How about create original content.

Part of the problem with “Modern” Hollywood is their obsession with remakes and sequels.

What’s coming out soon Jurassic Park 12?

I don’t know, the entire thing turns me off from the theaters.

Great. Audiences should go to see original content. But they don’t. We need to deal with that reality.

This past weekend saw the release of a sexy star-filled spy thriller from one of the world’s most well-known and respected directors and a light-hearted action film with a catchy premise. Both got excellent reviews. Both bombed.

Studio execs should get some blame for shaping audience tastes, but they are less responsible then broader technological, economic, social, and cultural changes. Ultimately, audiences decide what they see, and that decision determines what gets made.

You are right. Disney should have told Zegler to say this.

I blame Disney on this. Zegler is an actress being paid by Disney to act, that acting job should have extended to any interviews and or social media.

I am told over and over when talking about theme parks Disney is a for profit business. Disney should think that way in their movie business and control the talent they are paying every step of the way to ensure success of their brand and product.

Yes but now the sequels and remakes are also not performing as well as they were previously.

Sure some still make a Billion but the frequency is lower.

The zeitgeist seems to be shifting but what to ?

To me it’s not on Disney. It’s on team Zegler, it’s her career. She will move on and Disney will move on to the next project.
She is the one who has the most to lose.
All public figures have more to lose when speaking to the hidden masses online.

Crash Davis:
“Don’t try to be colorful. Don’t try to be interesting. The press’ll eat you alive. I’m tellin’ ya—you’re gonna have to learn your clichés. You’re gonna have to study them, you’re gonna have to know them. They’re your friends. Write this down: ‘We gotta play it one day at a time.’ ‘I’m just happy to be here. Hope I can help the ballclub.’ ‘I just want to give it my best shot, and the good Lord willing, things’ll work out.’”

Zegler is very talented and she will recover.

From the reviews of her actual performance I think she’ll be fine.

Richard Roeper came out with his review today and said “it’s Rachel Zegler who shines like the the brightest star in the sky, with a funny and warm and empathetic performance, and a singing voice that carries to the heavens”
