Disney After Hours Event

I bet per hour pricing is in the future (plus surge). You swipe on your way in and swipe on your way out like a parking garage.

No, I'm not kidding on this. It seems to me the perfect way (to them) to handle it. It gets rid of selling the park multiple times a day and you just charge people per hourly use.

I really think they're going to end up with a huge backlash from all of this once the current wave of tourists subsides - and they will.

2007 MNSSHP tickets, in advance, were $39. That's around $45 today depending where you look.

Last year the cheapest were $68

Bets on this year?

I'm not sure how much of a jump they are willing to make in one year, given everything else. Otherwise I'd say $199, with a raise to $249 the following year. It they want to do it it in more steps. Price of 1 day ticket, second year $149, 3rd year $199.

I'd be ok with this-it would put an end to lifestylers using the place like a mall

Then I guess there would be no draw any longer to stay on property. At least for us. We did not always use this feature but definitely not a reason to stay on property now.

I used EMH years back with my daughters and, as time went on, we used it less and less. For me, there's no real reason to stay on property any longer. As others have pointed out in another thread, you can stay off site at a nicer place for about 1/2. That appeals to me more.

Sorry if this is a duplicate. I didn't see this posted anywhere else, but I heard a rumor about a new event coming to the Magic Kingdom. It would be called "Disney After Hours" and will be starting April 14. It would be an after hours event, with select attractions open for three hours after park close. Heard that it would be for a total of 3,000 people each night, and would cost $150. It sounds to me like an extra magic hours night, but open to anyone. Bookings are supposed to start April 6, but I don't know if this is true since it seems to be a really quick turnaround.

We need more posts from @ECJack

This guy has been money with his news and very few posts. But each broke something before it was announced.

Anyways, thanks for the info, as ridiculous as it is.

Now I'm wondering if DAK will get those after hour events as well. WDW seems to be in a roll lately with upcharges. At least this happening at DAK would make a little more sense.

I really dont think this will do well. They tried it with Epcot after hours and that died a quick death. I bet this is gone before you know it.

Nothing would surprise me these days. This is MK we're talking about and having the max set at 3,000 pretty much guarantees no lines (when spread across several rides). If this is only a once a week event I could see it working. You only need about 1% of the average weekly MK attendence (based on 50K/day) to get on board with this if they stick to a 3,000 guest limit.

They could cheaply sweeten the deal with "exclusive characters" (like Scrooge McDuck) or, putting on my evil cap, having limited release merchandise only available during those three hours.
