Dinosaur Rehab

I know screamscape isn't always a reliable source, but they are reporting that a rehab for Dinosaur at DAK is on the way.

- (11/3/08) While we haven’t seen anything on the official rehab list, Screamscape sources tell us that a rehab for Dinosaur is on the way. If the plans hold out they will update a number of the special effects in the ride as well as add some all new “skins” to some of the dinos. Anyone know more about when this might take place? Given the time, I’m going to guess that we may have to wait until after the busy holiday season, sometime in early 2009.

Although, I wish they would really get to work on fixing the Yeti, this sounds like it could be good if it happens.

Am I the only one that thinks Dinosaur doesn't need a rehab?

What exactly are they rehabbing?

There are quite a few effects that aren't working in Dinosaur. If your first ride was within the past 3-5 years, you may not even know that they're missing.
Among them are the laser portals in three places on the ride (one at each tunnel, plus one by the Iguanodon near the end), the jumping Compys and the swooping teradactyl (though I've heard this last one is doubtful to ever return in its moving form).

I wish they could add some seats to this ride that don't move. I've heard that this ride really jerks alot. I know there are a lot of people out there with bad backs and other health conditions (me included) who would love to just take take in all the visuals. We are going in April, and I would love to ride this, but with my health condition, probably be better if I didn't.

That is an excellent idea! While I wouldn't use it, I'm sure some of my family might. I really hope they do rehab the thing.

Agreed, the special effects were outstanding in the beginning.

I really miss the swooping teradactyl. It made the yell of "Incoming!" work so much better.

The last time I was on Dinosaur was in May and there was a whole scene down and missing, I think it was the Brontosaurus scene? I dunno the dinosaur name.. it just has the big long neck and swings out over the truck. Well the truck goes into the scene, slows down, but nothing happens, just background sound effects, they even removed the track audio - something like "another big one, but at least this one's a vegetarian". The video in the pre-show was difficult to see, and there were a variety of problems throughout the attraction and it definitely could use a rehab.

This swooping teradactyl seems to be a lot like the Yeti - spectacular and exciting when the attraction opens but broken only a few years later with little hope of ever being restored to its original glory. Has Disney lost its touch with audio animatronics?

No can do - the entire motion base moves all seats at once. It would be unfeasable to have a (non)EMV either in use all the time or on standby.

The least roughest ride is in the middle of the vehicle since the base pivots around this central point (the hydro rams are located in the corners)

The Pterodactyl isn't really an AA. It's a model on a stick.

I really miss those effects. The lasers blocked the view past the entry tunnel. The sound of the glass shattering is still there but the laser is long gone.

The jumping Compys haven't worked in years either. Those were another one of my favorites. The Teradactyl making a return would be nice too.

Lately the large dino head at the very end hasn't moved either. It usually comes right at you but now it's stationary with a flash of light on it.

I tell people who are prone to motion sickness to sit in the middle too. Actually, I think Kilimanjaro Safari is more bumpy at times than Dinosaur.

Never even noticed the things that 'don't work'. All the motion, jerking, screaming, etc. etc., in there...Love that ride!!:) Guess I've been too busy just holding on.
