I thought the area circled in red was considered Tour Bridge 1 and that Tour Bridge 2 was considered the area between Soundstage 3 and 4 (which Mickey just vacated this week). But there's a very good chance I'm wrong about that.

I found a site that said that the smoking area was by Tour Bridge 2, and where I have marked seems to be where the smoking area is.

I did a google search and came up with the same thing you said, but I think it might still be referring to the bridge between Soundstage 3 and 4. A few websites list ALL of the smoking areas from back when there were too many to count (as opposed to now when there are just 3 in the park). And it seems to refer to 2 separate ones:
"Mickey Avenue:
-By the restrooms at Tour Bridge 2.
-By the area across from the Disney-MGM Studios Backstage Pass."

I think the second one is the one that still remains and is located across from Soundstage 1 where the third TSMM track is being built. But I think the reference to the first one is talking about right outside the restrooms at the start of Pixar and right by the former home of Jack Sparrow.

I also found this quote online, but obviously can't vouch for the accuracy of it at all: "The subway car is actually #101 and it is a prop piece that was created for use specifically in the short "The Lottery" starring Bette Midler, that used to run on Tour Bridge 2 of the original Disney-MGM Studios walking tour. Then you went into Soundstage 4 where you saw "The Making Of The Lottery" and saw all the props from the film." Which also indicates Tour Bridge 2 leads directly into Soundstage 4.

There was a permit filed for the engineering services building shown here. @marni1971 has heard that this building is staying and this is further confirmation. I also haven't seen any indication that the canal is being removed so it looks like this corner may not be used for either TSL or SWL.

So if everything from the canal back isn't being used how does that effect the placement of the 14 acres of SWL?

Looks like it could be either. Both are quite visible from guest area so we should know soon.

Tour bridge 2 is the one between toy and Lojack. Mickey Ave is the walkway from animation to the Pixar sign. Past the sign it's Pixar Place. Worked there for 2 years I can draw the layout of the park if I wanted to from memory.

here's google map

Do you think this area with the canal and engineering services building is enough room for a future expansion? Maybe a Mini land or a standalone pixar attraction.

I would guess it would be set aside for potential Star Wars expansion, as that is roughly the same location as the planned "expansion pad" on the Disneyland SW plans.

Assuming the area in yellow isn't used for either SWL or TSL, then that is 4.5 acres which I definitely room for another attraction or two. There is also the area marked in blue which has been designated for park expansion since it was first built.

Let me go ahead and put this to rest. I was backstage earlier today. Tour bridge two is 100% the one between CJS and Pixar place. Backstage there is a trailer back their with the Hubbard construction fencing around it and the trailer has spray painted red X on it. Marked restricted area. Continuing backstage you have the Roy O Disney building completely shut down and has signs on it that say restricted area. Also the work offices backstage bungalows are completely vacant and have fences around it also marked restricted area. There is a lot of spray paint and flags backstage for markings. If you continued looking down the road towards LMA you would see huge fences and scrims blocking off the Set and practice area.

New permit, the address put's it somewhere back near where Cat Canyon was. I did a little digging and it appears that "pargo" is a term that is used around Disney to mean golf cart since Pargo used to be a company that made golf carts.

Yep, took me a while to pick up on the term back when I was a CP. it seems to specifically relate to the multi-passenger carts you often see housekeeping staff using to get around the large resorts.

A new permit was filed today for "DHS BOH -Site Prep Package". The general contractor on the permit is Whiting-Turner who has done a lot of project for Disney including the Frozen ride/M&G at Epcot and the TSMM third track. The permit all the other contractors on the project. The architect is Helman, Hurley, Chavat, Peacock Architects who are currently doing the new restaurant going into the Pizza Planet location. In the past they have did the American Adventure attraction in Epcot as well as quite a few non-Disney projects. Also listed are contractors for concrete, fire protection, electrical, steel, mechanical, plumbing, civil design, site work, landscape, hardscape, framing and drywall, otherwise everything needed for a large expansion. The site work contractor is Hubbard who we have seen on all the permits so far, so it appears that actual construction is being turned over to Whiting-Turner.

With all that said, there are two strange things about this permit. First, the addresses is listed as "800 Ascot Drive, Bay Lake, FL". I have no record of Disney using this address and a search doesn't turn up an Ascot Drive anywhere near WDW. It's possible this is a mistake, but either way we have no way of knowing if this permit is for SWL or TSL. The second strange thing is the expiration date of 9/30/2016. Even the most optimistic among us knows that nothing of significance will be finished by that date, especially when you consider all the contractors on the permit. I can only conclude that this is either a mistake, or this is just the first permit for one of the lands so they just listed everyone involved with the larger project.

Ascot drive will be toy story land
