Details on Space Mountain Refurb

Here's what I'm thinking, you know the side-by-side track straight-away that leads into space mountain? Have it turn right before entering the straight-away and continue with the rest of the ride. But like you said, they could add a switch in the track there so if, when needed, the trains can head into the storage area.
i dont know. that would make them spend more money to install a temporary element to a popular attraction (not an eticket type, but maybe the ride capacity of one), but i dont think that they would do that. 20 years ago, yes. in 2008, no.

i like the idea and yes, it could be done, but i think in the eyes of the powers at be, it would be a waste of money.

I would think they would just close TTA during the refurb as well, either that, or they'd black out the windows.
well, the TTA going through SM is an open area. they couldnt black out the windows, there are none. they do have protective plexiglass (that might be what you are refering too) but i still think it might be a bit dangerous and would meet code for there to be a construction overhaul inside (with cranes etc) and civilians being in an open space like that passing through

I don't even really understand why they can't have the TTA open. Why can't they just put up construction walls so you can't see anything, and then you can keep the very high capacity TTA open. Maybe I'm wrong but it doesn't seem like the TTA would have to close.

the problem is that when the TTA goes through the center of SM layout, if there are cranes hoisting massive tracks being torn out or added and one of those slips and falls, construction walls arent going to save you from being dead. they dont want the lawsuit chance (and someone getting hurt).

this is all MHO, but it just seems logical that the inside of the TTA would absolutley be shut down.

Glad somebody caught that.

Of course, as an added feature, you can have them grind to a halt for no reason at all. :lookaroun
i caught it... i was just trying not to remember the video on youtube of the backwards hat guy... looking all serious. i am trying to sip my coffee and was trying to avoid bursting into laughter. for some reason, that guy reminds me of the lightsaber video that leaked.

January 2009 will do quite nicely - certainly not during 2008 (please)

I feel the same way! Sorry to people going in 2009 but when i last went I tried to ride it several times but the Fast pass was always sold out when i got there so i never got to do it! My kids were small and we were in a big group so getting every one there was like an act of congress! This trip I was really looking forward to it. My kids are older now so I figured I could have a race to see who gets there 1st and maybe we could get on...

I thought the added feature was to have the ride vehicles snap in half?

The TTA will close for some of the SM rehab; specifically during the work on and around Explorer One.

IMHO, I'd rather see the TTA shut down when it needs to be than re-routed. That would cost money... Money that sounds fairly tight for this refurb already, based on what a few here "in the know" have said.

And I'd rather save as many of those budget dollars as possible for a new post-show than keep open the TTA during the refurb.

Even better....have them make random "revving-up" noises from time to time!
I kid....I loved the Rods.:D

As for TTA...maybe it should stay open. The showers of sparks from the cutting torches ripping the ride apart might look kinda...space-ish and cool.

Shoot, Barnstormer will be packed with Space Mountain down.

(Who knows... maybe CoP can develop a crowd now... :lookaroun)

Yay!:sohappy:

Didn't TTA stay open in the last refurb...like in the early '90s?I remember going on it...

The TTA will close - no other refurb has done what this one will be doing to the interior infrastructure.

There is no cheap way to run the TTA and bypass SM - there isn`t a way to run through the WEDWay garage since it`s a workshop and the radius of a right hand turn onto the single track infront of SMs satellite building is too tight - a whole new elevated track section would need to be built and intergrated with the existing system.
