D23 Disneyland/DCA Predictions!

The 2019 Expo is all about Epcot and the already announced Marvel offerings. Runaway Railway too. Nothing else on the theme park front (unless there's some inexpensive dark horse like Pixar Pier at the last Expo).

I suspect they've penciled in a new Tomorrowland for DL's 75th. So we may get an announcement for that sometime in 2022 with details at the 2023 D23 Expo.
Interesting as 2017s D23 was also focused on WDW with some SW:GE info. Very little focus was put on DLR, which was suppose to change with the multi-year investment the company talked about previously.

So if no DLR announcements why announce MMRR back in April? You'd think they'd save that for D23 due to having nothing else to talk about.

Sorry but I don't buy it. It'll be a major let down in that presentation if nothing is announced for DLR. Even TP2000 thinks there will be more than you listed, and even that list was sparse.

I think they figured the purpose of closing down the entertainment buildings in the back of house would leak, so they simply got ahead of it and announced Runaway Railway early. Since it didn't require a whole presentation about what the ride would be like (we already got that from the Florida announcement) it was an easy PR move.

I'm expecting that there will be quite a long list to go through simply for Epcot. It's a huge reinvention of the front half of that large park, plus new additions to the back half. When I think of the 2017 expo it seemed very DL heavy, with the Galaxy's Edge model and Pixar Pier being announced. DL just got its biggest land expansion ever, it can essentially sit this one out (and get thrown a few Marvel bones).

GE was essentially a shared presentation with DHS, not DLR specific.

Even the insiders here indicated that Pixar Pier was a last minute add-on, ie not planned. Because again they didn't have anything DLR specific to announce for various reasons include the EGW issues, so threw it together.

So again we are having the same issue, with nothing DLR specific to announce other than details of Marvel Land. And even the Marvel Land presentation will likely be shared with DLP and HKDL. So I get that this is an Epcot heavy D23, but even the foreign parks will get more of a presentation at the panel than DLR.

That to me indicates they'll need to do something for DLR, just like with Pixar Pier announcement, and Magic Happens won't cut it. Something will be announced more than just Marvel details, and Magic Happens. PtN coming back would even be something, but still a bit of a let down. No, I'm expecting that "One Last Thing" moment for DLR....

I hope you’re right.

Is it too much to think they will have something on the new DCL ships? They are supposed to start construction (complete with the name) of the first in in early November and based on typical timeframes it would be mid-2021 for inauguration.

I'd assume there would be an update on progress regarding the new DCL ships.

An interesting study in D23 prediction methodology: Jack lays out logical arguments, backed up with evidence, citing sources. Fresh Baked (and I love you guys) says, "It's gotta be a new Tomorrowland! It's just gotta be! It needs a refub so much!"

At 18:26, he states that the contract for the Primeval World attraction is coming up in the next year or two. What the heck does that mean? Was the coaster licensed in some way?

Unknown. People in the comments have asked the same question.

Jack?

@przidentkendall

From what I've heard in the past, Primeval Whirl was brought to DAK in 2002 under a 20 year contract to Reverchon Industries, who has since gone bankrupt in 2009. Therefore assuming the contract is still in pace as it was originally, the attraction would have another 2-3 years of operation, before Disney would have to extend the lease or purchase the coaster. And given the issues regarding maintenance for this coaster is becoming more difficulty because Reverchon Industries no longer exists, custom parts have to be created to maintain it. This is the reason why I included it in the "Crazy/Outlandish" predictions section at the end of the video, with the tag "Not Likely".

Why would Disney have leased such a simple coaster and never paying for it outright? That coaster couldn't have cost that much to begin with. Maybe they thought the area would have been changed over in twenty years?

So Universal makes an "Epic" announcement this morning then this shows up on the D23 schedule for Saturday. Curious if its parks related even though it has its own panel on Sunday??
